U.S.S. Reaent, NCC-3345-E

The Defender Class Heavy Cruiser was a series of six starships constructed in the 2280s as an alternative to the Excelsior Class Transwarp Project. Given the ultimate failure of the 23rd century transwarp projects, the class was abandoned and the still under construction ships placed into mothballs. They would remain there until a review in 2345, in what would be the first full class reconstruction in Starfleet history, it was decided to attempt to complete the Defender-class starships for front line use. Techniques learned this project would be used again during the last year of the Dominion War.

Featuring much of the scalability found in the Excelsior-class design, upgrades turned the design into a modern day powerhouse. First tasked to be the U.S.S. Uganda, the U.S.S. Reaent, NCC-3345-E was launched from Utopia Planetia Fleet Yards on August 18, 2358. Placed under the command of Captain Lee Mahr and Commander Ilega Olu, her mission was one of deep space exploration near the Tholian border.

The ships remained in service thru the Borg attack at Wolf 359, where the first recorded destruction of a ship using this design took place. The ship would remain in service until 2370, when continued refit cycles were cancelled in order to focus on new starship projects. The Reaent was placed into mothballs on September 30th of the same year. The ship itself would be relaunched for use against the Dominion in 2375 as the U.S.S. Carolina, NCC-104221-C and remains in service to this day.

The above is provided for historical reference only. The NCC-3345-E was not an active game, but has been referenced. The simulation switched timeframes in 1996 which resulted in this gap.
