About A Sim Called "Aegis"
Sky Harbor Aegis is a chatroom based role-playing game that is a founding member of the Star Trek Simulation Forum (STSF). The game it set in the post-Star Trek Nemesis timeframe and holds an honor of being one of the longest running games within the forum. Operating since August 18, 1995, the adventures and missions the crew face are often complex. Many times dealing with not only immediate concerns but long term political ones, the crew has an opportunity to dive into a rich gaming environment that is welcoming to a wide range of people!
The station itself runs on a story coming from the Dominion War; the Allies wished to try to continue the peace but also not allow Cardassia to rebuild in a way that would cause another war. Similiar to the world's reaction after the conclusion of World War II, Aegis operates as the centerpiece of this idea. Originally tasked with helping to rebuild Cardassia Prime, the station has recently relocated to an area to help allow for further deep space exploration while monitoring a growing threat from the Breen Confederacy and the new government of the Cardassian Union.
By its very nature, political intrigue is common on Sky Harbor Aegis and any who have read Articles of the Federation or Star Trek: A Singular Destiny will find something to enjoy! Although the game does not follow the timeline established in the Star Trek: Destiny and other post-Nemesis book series, parts often find a way into the missions.
Sky Harbor Aegis is a modified Jovian-class station, a similiar design to Jupiter Station featured in the later seasons of Star Trek: Voyager. Due to the multi-national nature of the facility, it has components of Federation, Klingon, Romulan, Ferengi and Bajoran design.
The history of this sim can often be as relevant today as what happened last week. There have technically been three incarnations of Aegis which have been operated since 1995. In addition, numerous support vessels and exterior facilities have been featured. This includes colonies, drydocks, fighter squadrons, support ships and more.
Our game has been a part of two organizations in its past. She was created as a part of the official Star Trek role-playing group of America Online, Starfleet Online...also known as SpaceFleet OnLine (SFOL). In 2002, it relocated to become a founding member of STSF with its connections to startrek.com.
We are always welcoming to those interested in joining us or answering any questions you may have. Sky Harbor Aegis is currently managed by Captain Chirakis Kirel.
