"Bridge Politics"

December 7, 2397

USS Agincourt NCC-81762

“Bridge Politics”

To quote, Major Vaos, to Chief Robair, “Your captain is an idiot. What’s our status?” Unquote.

Kansas was guessing from that comment that Capt. Davies and Vaos had had some sort of confrontation. Vaos had waltzed onto the bridge and directed that comment toward Robair. And in front of a junior officer no less. Not the best example to give.

Ahem. Greetings. Would you like to purchase a clue Major?

Oddly enough, while her ears went completely flat within seconds, outwardly expressing her thoughts and feelings, Kansas did not entertain the notion of taking the Major on a la hissing. There was a time and a place, and this was not the time. If only Vaos understood that.

She knew the Major would not have attained that rank if he did not have the skills. As junior officer to ranking officer, she respected his accomplishments and his service record. Now her level of personal respect toward Major Vaos? Well, that was waning. Rapidly. To prance around like a fourth year cadet with an attitude, and make derogatory comments regarding a commanding officer (and Davies was the commanding officer for all on the Agincourt), you just did not do that in civilized circles. If this were a frigate for hire with a bunch of mercenaries? Yes. On the Agincourt? No.

Why confront Lt. Commander Robair? Well, that was easy – Robair was the current “safe” target. Take on the second officer rather then Davies again or even Vaos’ own direct superior – Colonel Harper. Stir the Plomeek soup a bit, test the boundaries, give the ‘Fleeters some grief. Only problem with boundaries is he could smack into a bulkhead.

Then again, perhaps Vaos wanted to establish himself as an outsider. If so, then what the deuce was he doing in the Marines exactly? Marines were trained to work as one team, with quick and devastating professional results. If he enjoyed the lone wolf role, he would never mesh with the Marines here on the ship. Perhaps Vaos was more suited to a ground assignment and the Agincourt was a stretch for him to adapt too. It did happen at times. Years ago, Admiral James Kirk was busted back to Captain of a starship, a position that he excelled at more so then the paper pushing admiralty, at least for Kirk.

Regardless, Kansas hoped for the Majors sake that he adapted and his battlefield tactics did not match his haphazard blitzing tactics that he seemed to be employing.

Lt. M’rrett “Kansas” JoNs

Tactical Officer
