"Headaches and Worries"

"Headaches and Worries"

Lieutenant Jasmine McCellan and Lieutenant j.g. T'Parek

Joint Log

November 22, 2155

The doctor checked the physical list. Everyone needed one since so many bad things had happened. The next on the list was T'Parek. She tapped on the comm.

"Lieutenant T'Parek to Sickbay."

T'Parek was seated in the quarters that she shared with Montague, quietly reading a PADD of War and Peace, hoping to gain further insight into the minds of who the humans considered to be a proficient writer, when a comm station startled her from her reverie. "Is something the matter, Doctor?"

"Um... you are next on the physicals list, if you have time," she said.

T'Parek turned off the PADD and sighed. "Do you believe it to be necessary? I am quite well, I assure you."

"Yes, it is necessary ..." She tried not to sound suspicious.

"I see." She highly doubted the urgency of the matter, but then again, who was she to know that there really wasn't a problem? "On my way, Doctor."

The doctor hummed silently, tapping on her console. She looked at the screen. It was interesting, her research finally bore fruit. She waited for T'Parek.

T'Parek took her time in coming down to Sickbay. As the giant glass doors to the ship's infirmary opened, T'Parek silently huffed. "Reporting as ordered, Doctor McCellan."

She walked over and motioned to a biobed. "That's good."

She walked over silently. "Please complete the examination with all possible speed."

Jas tapped on her scanners and began, recording and checking the Vulcan officer for any ailments. "Are you in a hurry?"

She shrugged slightly. "It would be illogical to devote any more time than necessary to this task."

She completed her scan and walked over to retrieve a hypospray. "You're well, but do you feel any headaches?"

"Occasionally. Not serious enough to pose any distraction from my work, however." She sounded a little worried.

Jas moved back to T'Parek and checked the hypospray, then tapping it on T'Parek's neck softly. "This should help ..."

"Thank you. Will you require any psychological information at this time, Doctor?"

"The only question is, are you sane? No tendancies to remember or forget things?" She studied the scan results.

"I do have a tendency to REMEMBER things, Doctor." She had a wry half-smirk on her face.

She nodded. "No degradation of your senses?"

She blinked. "None."

The doctor nodded again, retrieving a clean hypospray. "May I draw a blood sample?"

She nodded. "By all means, Doctor."

She tapped the hypospray against T'Parek's neck again; her mind seemed light years away than in the room. Her eyebrows drooped and her expression was blank. She placed a vial of dark green blood on a rack. "Thank you."

T'Parek looked at McCellan curiously. "Is something the matter, Doctor?

The words seem to hit a barrier around Jas; she looked blankly at T'Parek. "No, you are in good health, report to sickbay if you experience any headaches ..."

She nodded and headed to the exit before turning around again. If you do

ever wish to speak about anything, I'm always open." She hoped nothing was

wrong with the good doctor, and nodded politely.

Jas thought about what she told Grey in his quarters, an insane plan, so crazy, it just might work. But the potential treatment may account into problems, the blood sample, Jas looked at from the corner of her eye. It may hold the key. She looked up at T'Parek. "Thank you. I must say, Vulcans are interesting."

The Vulcan had a twinkle in her eye. "You wouldn't believe how fascinating, despite all of your faults, humans are. Good night, Doctor, unless you wish to discuss anything..."

She smiled, but it was only a shield, another barrier, protecting the despair that lay within. "Thank you, there is nothing else. Good night."

She nodded and left the Sickbay, even though she knew McCellan was

hiding something. Oh well... she'd talk about whatever it was when she was

comfortable with it...
