   "What’s that, Schrödie?

 

   "Yeah, I know.  I want to find her, too.

   

   "I’m sure she got off just fine.  Tell you what, I’m going to land on that asteroid right down there, and then we can wait until one of the shuttles picks up our signal and hauls us in, okay?"

   Chuck rubs the agitated cat standing on his lap as he maneuvers the small pod.  "Hang on, Schrö."  He holds onto the cat as he roughly lands the pod.  

   When all is clear and done, he leans back in his chair, picks up the cat, and looks in his face.  "In the meantime, it’s just you and me, Blueballs."

   Schrödinger lets out a raspy reply.  

   "And if I know you, you’ll be hungry before long.  Won’t that be fun?  I don’t think rations will do it for you, either.  

   

   "Ah, Schrö."  He scrutches the kitty’s head and sighs.
