  1. 1. How often do you read other people's logs?

    • I don't even write logs. Why would I read them?

    • Nope, only read my own.

    • Just those of my crew.

Just wondering who spends time reading a lot of other logs out there. I try to read them when I have time because we have quite a few talented writers here. Off the top of my head, here are some of my favorites.

"State of Engineering Address" by WxMurray

"Government Conspiracies in the 24th Century" by Laarell Teykier

and

"Karaoke Vulcan" by T'vin.

There are dozens more that I have enjoyed but those were just the ones that came to mind immediately. They're each good for different reasons.

I read a lot of the logs here...if the title catches my eye, I'll open it up and take a look. Or if it's a log from someone I know I read it almost automatically.

I usually read everybody's logs to get a feel for their writing style. But I tend to focus on crew logs of my ships and any eye catching titles .. like my NDAK SUCKS one.. lol.

Well I read all the logs for Excal, my other ships, I tend to read the ones of people I know, though if a title looks interesting I'll usually read it

My personal favorites are Sorehl, Laehval t'Temarr, t'Ksa, Blu and Huff, And Harper. Just to name a few B)

Combination for me, but mainly, I read shipmate logs.

Eye catching titles will grab my interest - NDAK SUCKS comes to mind.

I will occasionally lurk in the evil-type Talon section to get my Rihan conspiracy fix. Sometimes I will scan other ship areas to see if anything catches my eye. The NFS Raeant can expect a visit soon for doing that awesome alternate universe thing.

All in all, some VERY talented writers are on these boards.

My goodness! My Mayan log made your list! I'm truly touched and flattered.

I read almost every log that comes up... if nothing else, I'll at least give it a look-over.

Well, even if no one likes me work, I'll live :D

I tend to read Excal's work broadly. Otherwise, specific writers I follow are:

Van Roy/Dumbass

Garnoopy

Ridire/Ayers

Kestra

N'Dak

and a few others, but not as dedicated.

I read mostly the ones from the SEC department, and try and keep up on the rest of the crews. I always try and catch corizons because his logs tend to cover the overall story of the sim.

You know... I actually try to avoid reading logs from ships other than mine, but ONLY because I don't want to copy plot ideas, or start second guessing my own plot ideas. For example, I'll have this really cool plot idea and then I'll read someone's log where they're doing something similar, and I'll think, "Oh crap, they're going to think I'm copying them..." or "Oh that's such a cool idea, I should do something like... but... they're already doing it... dang." It's my way of keeping plots for my ships fresh.

And this way you can't blame me for stealing "sentient glow-in-the-dark cockroaches" or "drink coffee on the bridge for five weeks" from someone else. ::grin::

I read all the logs from my crew. They help remind you of what happened last week and sometimes you can find out about things you missed.

Then I also read logs from people I know.

I also have to admit I read the N'DAK SUCKS log. So I'd say if there's an interesting title I read the log, too.

Well, between the drunken Klingons, and the lightsaber (Lucas sues!!! :D) your logs usually give me a good laugh.

Garnoopys are just cool to read, since I consider him one of the top writers on this site.

Dito for Ridre. Reading his and Deb's joint logs are where I get most of my inspiration.

Kestra is fun to read since her Arc character comes off as a shy girl, and thats always fun for a good read.

N'Dak's logs make me kinda uneasy. Whenever I read about Corizon drinking him self to sleep, or getting tortured or stuff, some part of the back of my mind keeps screaming "Animal Cruelty!". Gives me the heebees...

Thanks Travis, sometimes it's nice just knowing someone else is reading your logs. So now the question is, which Kes is better? Arc or Reaent? :D

Chances are if I've had the chance to interact with someone on STSF, I've read at least a couple of their logs. I love seeing how different or similar a player can be from the character they set up.

I always prefer a character I "interact" with :D
