Cptn Corizon

Mystery Al-Ucard

Corizon leaned back into the co-pilots seat as the shuttle Olwyn exited the hanger bay of the Morningstar.

“We have cleared Morningstar,” B’Nai Summers said flatly.

“Set course for the planet,” Corizon’s own voice lacked emotion. “Warp 4.”

B’Nai nodded, she’d already locked in the course before the order was given, and so it only to a slight flick of her wrist to set the proper speed. Moments later the type-XI shuttle jumped to warp in the customary flash, leaving the Moringstar in her wake.

“What’s our ETA?”

She didn’t have to look. “40 minutes and….”

“That’s close enough,” Corizon smiled wryly. “Think you can handle things while I take a short nap?”

Summers glanced over to Corizon, “Of course sir…I’ll wake you when we enter the system.”

He nodded and swiveled the chair, standing and making his way to the aft section of the shuttle where a small couch-bed existed. The previous hour or so had completely drained him and he needed to rest before scouting out an alien planet.

As the Olwyn entered the system, labeled only TL-8765 on Dominion star charts, Corizon made his way back to the co-pilot seat. “What do sensors show?”

Summers continued looking forward as she dropped the Olwyn to impulse. “The fourth planet seems to be inhabitied,” again matter-of-fact, “Though from what I am seeing up here…”

“Yes?”

“Well I hope you brought your umbrella,” she smirked. “The planet seems to be much like Ferenginar.”

“That’s comforting,” Corizon frowned. “Let’s hope the people aren’t…”

Summers smiled, trying to cover a giggle. “Well looks like we’re about to find out,” she said motioning to a blinking light signaling a hail.

Corizon forced the frown away and put on the best diplomatic face he could muster and pressed the button. A few seconds later the screen nearest to him came to life, Corizon’s eyes widened as the visage of a man appeared on the screen.

“Greetings, travelers…” The man was pale, almost white. His features were sharp and distinct, and his attire, from what Corizon could see, was dark shades of purple and blue with rich black accents in what appeared to be leather, accenting his pale complexion and yellow eyes.

“Greetings,” Corizon said with a slight smile, intrigued by this pale specter, “I am Commander Corizon of the United Federation of Planets.”

The man lifted his dark eyebrows slightly. “You must forgive me,” his voice lacked warmth, but it was not in a way as to offend, “But I have never heard of this United Federation.”

“That’s not too surprising,” Corizon noted. “We’re from the Alpha Quadrant.”

“I see,” the man said, “I am Tanaeis, Port Master for all incoming traffic to Al-Ucard. What business do you have?”

“We’re explorers,” Corizon made a conscious effort to hide his fangs, “Our main vessel has had some…technical difficulties and will be arriving in a few hours, we were hoping to secure them safe docking and look for parts that we need to repair our vessel.”

Tanaeis nodded considering the request. “You may land on the coordinates I am sending you now. When your vessel arrives, I will inform them of your wherabouts and you of there landing location.”

“Thank you,” Corizon nodded.

Tanaeis smiled, “I am sure you will find everything you need…Commander…”

The transmission ended, Corizon blinked, rubbing his eyes, next to him Summers did too.

“We’re those?”

“Yes…”

“Spooky…”

“You have a problem with fangs?”

Summers face turned slightly red, “Of course not, sir.”

Anxious to change the subject, “We’ve received the coordinates for landing. They seem to be in a rather metropolitan area near some sort of market.”

“Good,” Corizon said, happy for the topic change. Though he to couldn’t help but shake the vision of Tanaeis’ sharp fangs. “We should be able to find out if we can aqquire dilithium crystals.”

“Entering Al-Ucard atmosphere, beginning landing procedures.”

Hmmm, I hope I loaded Morningstar's spooky music MP3 library before we left.

Who knew anagrams were part of security training? And who would be bothered by fangs?
