Where Would You Be?

Here's something to think about. We obviously enjoy interacting in the world of Star Trek. If we were to really indulge our Trek obsessions for a moment, let's pretend that we really are in the world Gene Roddenberry created for us. Say ... TNG era to simplify things.

Where would you be? Would you really be in Starfleet? Let's pretend you couldn't be. What else could you picture yourself doing? Be creative! There's so much beyond Starfleet!

I know I wouldn't be in Starfleet. I would probably be on Earth or some colony world, running a restaurant. Or maybe I'd be one of those crazy vendors somewhere selling weird antiques and artifacts. Or I would be studying on Betazed.

What about the rest of you?

Well I would probably be in Starfleet. In RL I considered a career in the navy but some health issues make it impossible for me. I'd like to think that in the 24th century that would not be a limitation anymore.

But since Starfleet is not an option...maybe I'd be an author travelling a lot to see different things and be inspired by as many different cultures as possible. Or maybe I'd spend my life on Risa...being "on vacation" all year long. Or I'd ask Murray if he's got a room to sublet if I bring my own sofa :).

I'd open up my own bar by the beach on Risa. :)

I would find that race Mayweather talked about. You know, the one where the females have 3.

I'd be sunning myself on a very comfy chaise lounge with a drink close at hand near said bar

Regardless of where I was (Starfleet, outside of Starfleet), I'd be flying. That's what I do now and that's what I'd do then. Although I love playing an engineer onboard the Manticore, I know engineers and what they do, and well, nothing quite compares with being the pilot in command. :)

Three eyes, yes Van Roy I believe I saw one on Mars colony. :)

Nope. Martians have 3 arms. Venusians have 3 eyes. It was all in that one Twilight Zone episode.

Probably at home sitting on the sofa and not doing much of anything.

Watching storms on TV? =0]

I would love to do a Vulcan study or meditation "tour" on Vulcan. That would be neat.

Mmm. Yeah. :)

Or maybe I'd find a nice planet without weather control systems and do some forecasting/storm chasing.

I think I'd definitely be civilian, most likely working for a state or local government and pushing for less Federation control. :)
