The "Alternate Timeline" Surprise...

Hey there all,

 

As those at the Reaent anniversary celebration this past Thursday learned, the game is about to embark on a rather interesting adventure and we’re looking for members of the STSF community to join in. This is open to all graduated persons within the forum.

 

Starting in two weeks, the game will begin a plot that takes the crew into an “alternate universe.” While not the “Mirror, Mirror” galaxy we have seen so much about over the past forty years, this adventure will be just as exciting…providing those involved the unique opportunity to play a different side to their characters. Ever wanted to role-play what a darker version of what you do each week? Ever wondered how your character might have turned out if the universe had unfolded differently? Here’s an opportunity to find out!

 

The setting for this adventure is one we hope all will find interesting. In a setup similar to the events seen in “Yesterday’s Enterprise,” the timeline itself holds true to what we all know up to the events of Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country. Here, things took a drastic turn. Instead of extending an olive branch of peace towards the Klingon Empire, Admiral Cartwright spearheaded an all out invasion. The repercussions of this divergence are numerous and will create a setting for a unique view of how things might have been in the later years of the 24th Century had the Federation taken advantage of the Praxis moon disaster.

 

Inside this alternate timeline, players will be given the opportunity to find themselves in a completely new setting. Perhaps as a Lieutenant Junior Grade who is an Assistant Security Officer, one might find themselves serving as a Lieutenant Commander in charge of the medical department. Such opportunities will also include the presence of a fighter group aboard the alternate Reaent. This is a concept that, if successful, may become a permanent addition to the roster of the ship in 2006.

 

The plot itself is presently set to begin on October 27th and run thru until the end of 2005. Those who are interested in taking advantage of this unique opportunity are invited to read the list of positions that will be available located later in this post. The decision regarding ranks and final position assignments will be made based on a number of criteria. While present members of the Reaent crew will be given preference to certain slots, expect to see many non-regular players holding department chief and senior level positions.

 

In addition, given circumstances within the universe, a wide variety of species will be available for players to select from. This includes traditional Federation species plus those wishing to be Klingon, Romulan, Ferengi, Cardassian and Breen. Due to plot related issues, El-Aurians will not be allowed.

 

Available positions are:

 

Standard Slots:

• Chief Engineer
  
• Chief Medical Officer
  
• Chief of Operations (OPS)
  
• Chief Science Officer
  
• Chief of Tactical (Security) Operations
  
• Commanding Officer - Current Reaent personnel only.
  
• Doctor
  
• Engineer - Will include ship and fighter related duties
  
• Executive Officer - Current Reaent personnel only.
  
• Navigator
  
• Science Specialist
  
• Tactical (Security) Specialist
  
• Weapons Officer (Tactical) - Will include ship and fighter related duties.
  

Fighter Related Slots:

• Chief of Flight Operations (FOPS) - Responsible for coordinating/validating fighter equipment/personnel are managed and prepared before/following/during a mission. Comparable to modern day position of Air Boss. Operations position. Coordinates all inter-department contact with the fighter group.
  
• Commander Air Group (CAG) - In command of all pilots aboard ship. Department Head position. Reports to CO and XO. Coordinates with FOPS.
  
• Squadron Leader - Senior pilot in charge of six to twelve fighters. "Sub" Department head position. Reports to CAG.
  
• Pilot - Fighter pilot. "Assistant" position. Reports to squadron leader.

Two that I know about for sure are Arcadia and Qob-Lakota. The Arcadia actually did a Mirror Universe plot where some of their crew were captured on the prison planet Risa and needed a mirror-universe Qob to help them out, including a certain Vulcan drunken frat boy. (Well, OK, I actually just played myself.)

 

A couple years ago the Qob-Lakota was shifted to a dimention when the IKC Qob and USS Lakota were battling each other (Believe it or not, the Lakota won.) until we figured out what had happened.

Yeah, I remember that mission. I wrestled with Garn's character in mud. That's exactly why Dak doesn't like Jello.. lol. In addition, we did another Mirror Universe plot in the Challenger; fun stuff. :rolleyes:

Challenger did an alternate-universe plot a few months ago, after 'In A Mirror, Darkly' aired.

Hey all,

 

Quite a few people have PMed me and showed interest during the anniversary sim at participating in this event. However, quite a few folks have failed to actually send me their details in e-mail. Please do so as soon as possible. If I do not get an e-mail from you, I won't be placing you on the roster for this little event.

 

And yes...there are still a few pilot positions still open at at least one department head slot hasn't been determined yet. <_<

Here's a picture of Blu in one of her alternate realities. This was taken several months

ago when I was still a non-com officer. I've since advanced to the officers' rank of Stone Guard and hope to make it to Blood Guard within the next week! Anyway...me and a few of my minions in the background........

Alternate times are always da bomb... especially when you can be a darker version of your character...and do the whole mutiny thing...or be a seat of your pants type of character...or hire lower decks crew members for body guards...Muwah. :lol:
