Night of the Long Knife

31 Days After Morningstar's Departure from Camelot

The day the Vorta feared most had finally come, the day when the Founder’s rule would no longer solve all of their problems. Faced with a mounting insurgency, that seemed to grow bolder by the passing hour, and no directive from their gods…the Vorta Council had been left with few options.

Keevan, leader of the Council could barely stomach the speech he was about to give to the entire Dominion. But it was his only option. Without guidance from the holy gods, the people were lost, confused …torn between directives. Action was the only course to stem the rebellion before it started.

In the city squares, in every home, on every starship…everywhere through the Dominion, the symbol of the Great Dominion appeared. Crowds huddled around the monitors. Word of the Rebel attacks had began to spread through out the Dominion. Fear and panic began gripping worlds.

Worlds long under the iron fist of the Jem’Hadar had grown restless. The iron grip of order the Founders had instilled the force subjects of the Dominion weakened. And now, they would hear, for the first time, a directive that did not come from the Founders but from the Vorta.

As the Dominion logo slowly faded, Keevan appeared.

“Subjects of the Dominion,” he started, the legendry stoic and serene façade all but gone. His voice uneven and craggy. For the first time in his nine lifetimes, he found himself unsure of his path. As he spoke, his voice evened as he tried to convince himself the path he’d chosen was correct. “The rumors you have heard, of Rebel Jem’Hadar and Vorta allying themselves with a group of rogue Founder’s calling themselves only ‘the Hundred,’ are true.”

Across the Dominion a collective gasp could have been heard, even among the Jem’Hadar watching the video feed. To the normal soldier, the very idea of rebelling against the gods who’d given them life was incomprehensible.

“These acts of hubris and hypocrisy can not go unanswered. Thus only on course of action can be taken. As of this moment, all Dominion held territories well be under a full state of Martial Law.”

Eyebrows began lifting, and whispers turned into murmurs.

“It is with most heavy heart that I must order such drastic measures. But only with such drastic measures can the peace and security the Founders intended for us be preserved. I pledge to you, the subjects of the most merciful Founders, that these rebels will be found out and they will be dealt with. Any Jem’Hadar, Vorta, or Dominion citizen found to be aiding and abiding this Rebellion will be punished.”

He went on for another ten minutes, reassuring the people and offering comfort as the unshakeable yoke of peace the Founder’s had placed upon the Gamma Quadrant began to breakdown.

Across the Dominion, the elite wing of the Jem’Hadar…the Grey Battalion began purging anyone the Vorta Council thought could be helping the Hundred. Thousands of civilians, and hundreds of Vorta were systematically put to death. The punishment for the Vorta thought to be colluding with the Hundred was set to be particularly unforgiving…the Vorta’s line would end with them. Branded as traitors, they would never again been cloned.

Keevan finished his speech and retreated into the council room, where the council would wait and see if they had stopped the rebellion before Civil War tore the mighty Dominion apart.
