Rude Awakenings

Subject: Rude Awakenings

Date: Thu, Dec 26, 1996 1:29 AM

From: LtJgShela

Shelia headed down the cooridor towards her quarters. She chuckled to herself after thinking about what she had missed. She hadn't felt good that night, since the last mission had gave her a cold, so she did some work on the bridge. She saw afew people leave the party using the bridge's TL, and a few drunk people as well.  She was sure that she had missed a wonderful party, although Bajorans don't have the Holiday, "Christmas". She headed for Ten Forward, were she was going to get a Lapsang Souchong

tea, before she called it anight. She got the drink from the bar, and then headed for an empty table by the viewport.

"May I Join You?" Asked a young man in a waiters outfit

"I'm not really in the mood for small talk"

The young man pulled out a chair, and sat down ignoring her reply. "Ahhh, a Bajoran with an attitude. You know, we don't get much of those...." he trailed off as she interupted him

"I came here to sit and think, alone, and its not an attitude, its a cold"

"Well, I doubt that. If you wanted to be alone, I am sure you could have gotten that same drink from your replicator. I think you came here to talk, to let your mind clean up, to get a drink in a packed room"

"And I think your hitting just slightly to close to home." She said, ignored his presence, and returned to her padd. She began working on the report that she was going to give to Lt.Cdr. Blu Rox, when she felt the padd being removed from her hands by the man.

The man skimmed over the padd, then glanced back up at her "Ahhh, reports,

don't you just love doing them? I used to have to do them, but now I just tend the

room, and bother angry Bajorans"

"Look, if you must know, I have a cold, and hate it, I missed a party because I

didn't feel good, and I'm running out of time to finish that report, now, would you leave me alone, and give me my report back."

The man looked at her, then showeed her the screen, carrying the message, 'files deleted'. "You know, I'm not a counselor, but I would say you need sleep. You obviously are tired, and I am sure that the Security chief could do without a report on information she already knows, from someone who is up way to long trying to write it. Now, if she has a problem, send her to me, otherwise go get some sleep, and I'll see you later.

The man got up, and headed for another table, chuckling to himself.

She was about to get up and smack him, for deleting it, when she relized he was right. She wasn't focusing straight, so she got up and headed out, very upset at what the man had done. The last thing she needed was a man involving himself in affairs that didn't need tending to. But she decided to follow his advice, and head for bed.
