Happy news?

=/\=BEGIN LOG=/\=

T'Linna sat down at the terminal in her quarters. It was time her parents found out...time they learned of the wedding...and time they learned of what T'Linna suspected about that relationship...time to tell them that the family was expanding. She switched the terminal on and said, "Computer, begin recording."

The computer beeped an affirmative, then a single line prompt appeared on the terminal screen: Waiting...

T'Linna paused for several moments, causing the computer to prompt her with, "Awaiting first sentence."

She took a deep breath before beginning. "Too much time has passed since my last letter, and I fear you will not receive this well. Much has happened since last we spoke, and the news I have to share may not please you. However, your reaction will matter little as what has taken place cannot be changed.

"You know that when I was a child, you left me unbonded rather than locking me into a prearranged marriage. You left me with options, and I chose to use them. You may ask why I tell you what you already know, but you will soon understand.

"Soon after my graduation from Starfleet Academy, a Terran male, James T. Eagle, took what humans call "a romantic interest" in me. We met in the academy, but the relationship evolved later when we began to see each other at an establishment known as the Red Star Night Club. I am still uncertain as to why I frequent that establishment as it is a bar (a rather well-known one at that) and an illogical place for a Vulcan to be. Though now I do have a reason...

T'Linna stopped speaking for a moment to gather her thoughts. This letter was difficult for her to write...she feared her parents would not approve of her relationship...and that was unsettling to her. The computer beeped again and prompted, "Continue or send."

T'Linna continued. "My...relationship with Mister Eagle progressed quickly, most likely too quickly by Vulcan standards." A long pause ensued, but T'Linna spoke before the prompt sounded. "As much as it may displease you to hear this, I can keep it from you no longer. James Eagle asked me to be his wife. I accepted, and now we are married. I do not wish to hear how illogical this marriage is, nor do I wish to hear how I have 'dishonored' my family. Love is not logical, and that is what James and I share.

She paused again to take a breath. "There is more. I am convinced that our family will soon expand again. I believe that I may be with child. Though it has not been determined by Doctor Maxwell, I am certain of it. My telepathic abilities and 'maternal instinct' tell me it is true. Furthermore, I believe I can sense not one child, but two. I will spare you further details on the subject.

"I know this news is a bit surprising...and that it may come as a shock. Please, do not judge this too harshly...instead try to focus on the lighter aspects. I have a family of my own...and they are your family as well.

T'Linna paused, considering her next words carefully. She did not know what else she could say to her parents...did not know how they would react. She chose to end the message.

"I hope this finds you well. Live long and prosper. End recording."

The entire message flashed on the screen and the computer prompted, "What do you wish to do with this message?"

T'Linna replied, "Encode and send to Shikahr, Vulcan." She keyed in the coordinates, and the computer sent the message. Now all she had to do was wait for the reply.
