Would you be considered a closet trekkie? Who in your life (RL) knows about your love for trek? Is it just those close to you? is it you and **insert deity here**? Or do you have a Galaxy Class Mailbox? Tell us about it if you like, we don't know you in real life  (and we already know you are a trekkie here...)

It is no secret at work that I am a Trekkie, but this does not really carry a negative stigma. I work with engineers and most of us are at least closet Trekkies.

My dad was so proud when I told him I was the Vulcan chief engineer on a Klingon ship. He asked to not be seen with me in public, but...

Posh, don't be closeted. Be yourself. Scary enough you'll find many many people who are trekkies. Or at least, many people who will get a kick out of your trek uniform.

Of course every one knows. I always try to convince those few non-Trekkies who have never seen a single episode of any show that Star Trek can change your life. Somehow they don't really believe me.

A lot of people know I'm simming, too. I get strange looks but it's worth it. At least then I can discuss alien anatomy with those fellow Trekkies around.

I don't think I can really be classified as a trekkie anymore... I haven't watched an episode in like forever.

On the first day of my "Intro to Engineering" class we were to tell one thing about ourselves that would help everyone to remember who we were. Mine was 'I like sci fi, Star Trek especially.'

The professor looked around the room, smirked, and said, "Uh, yeah, you're not alone."

It launched a five person discussion about which series was best... fun stuff.

I was one of about 6 Trekkies at my high school...well, there were 6 who were open about it anyway.

Well since I have a star trek tattoo, I guess anyone wo see it knows. along the same lines, the fact that I have a tattoo that is somewhat noticable means I don't really hide it. I don't shout it from the rooftops, but if someone asks me I don't deny it.

Being Trekkies we are allowed to talk about 7 of 9's implants AND be able to hold a straight face doing it. ;)

lol, I dunno... I have such a far-fetched set of interests and people I hang out with that I tend not to talk about other the things I do when I'm with them. I mean, for example, not many people dancing Argentine tango also roleplay Star Trek online, or not many musicians also make wine out of junk they grow in their yards or spend their nights off See? So of course I usually talk about food, the universal language. :D

Huff, I have a lot of respect for you, and am sure you're a super gal....but that was the most confusing post I've *ever* seen on this forum...

However, as a musician, i must agree, i have never met someone who makes wine out of junk from their back yard ;)

I am no closet Star Trek fan!

Pretty much everyone that knows me, knows of my Science-Fiction addiction, my desire to one day to go the Shore Leave convention in Maryland, and the not-so-secret crush I have on Patrick Stewart. (Mama likes the older, bald types.)

Of course, I get teased about it all the time by the non-Trek folks.

My boss once made me a banner to hang over my desk. It was rather cool and I still have it as a matter of fact. One of the art guys used one of the Star Trek backgrounds on the website, the ST font and made a sign that said "Command Center". It was their way of telling me that they realized how much crap I had to deal with on a daily basis. Nearly all the troubles we had got sorted out at my desk.

Then again, I wasn't alone. One of the other managers brought in one of the issues of his Star Trek Magazine so I could study the detailed schematics of Deep Space Nine. ;)

My e-mail notification at work is Worf saying "Captain ... We have an incoming message".

Yea. I'm pretty sure that everyone knows.

Not as many people know about the sims, though.

Not because I don't want to tell them, but because people that have never Role played and do not have the brain for it, cannot seem to understand the concept. I've RPed on AOL for years now. I met my husband in an RP chatroom. (And have been married for 6 years now.) I was a Star Trek simmer before there were academies or SFOL. Anytime I tell a non-simmer that, I get blank looks and glazed expressions. I'm sure you know the feeling.

Yes, I am a big Star Trek geek and I don't care who knows it.

- Now for the shameless non-Trek plug -

Firefly rocks!

For those of you that haven't seen the show, check it out on Sci-Fi Fridays.

And of course, the movie comes out on September 30th!

Go see it.
