Nextel Cup Championship predictions

Locked in

1 -- Tony Stewart 3570 Leader

2 +1 Greg Biffle 3361 -209

3 -1 Jimmie Johnson 3312 -258

4 -- Rusty Wallace 3257 -313

5 -- Mark Martin 3149 -421

6 +1 Kurt Busch 3114 -456

In the top ten as of now

7 -1 Jeremy Mayfield 3073 -497

8 -- Carl Edwards 3014 -556

9 +2 Matt Kenseth 2939 -631

10 +2 Jamie McMurray 2929

In contention to be in the top ten

11 -2 Ryan Newman 2928 -642

12 -2 Jeff Gordon 2899 -671

13 -- Elliott Sadler 2877 -693

With one more race to go before the chase, I decided since I know there are a few Nascar fans in here to put up a thread about predictions for this year's championship. First, I'll give my pridiction on who'll be in the chase, basically how it is now with perhaps Ryan Newman and Jamie McMurray switching positions. Jeff Gordon I think is out, considering the only reason he was even in contention was because of a caution happening when he needed it, but his performance doesn't show any reason for him to deserve to be in the chase... and I'm sure he'd agree with me

Now for the championship, I'm hoping for Martin, it would be great for him to win that Championship in his last (or second last depending on the McMurray situation) season as a nextel cup driver. Though, realistically I believe it will probably go to either Biffle or Kenseth.

I myself am hoping for Rusty to win it. I'm a big fan, and I met him a couple of years ago, really nice guy.

In all likely hood, I'm gonna go with Biffle. He's been consistant throughout the season, and has a fair share of wins under his belt. I'm gonna go ahead and place my money on the National Gaurd.

Crusty Rusty, Travis? Oy. He only ran two cars off the track this past week... ::sigh:: I'm just not a big fan.

Go Tony Stewart!

First point, this is a prediction on the championship topic, not a "Bash Nascar" topic... so if you'd have nothing constructive to say I'd suggest you not post on this topic. Secondly I'd like to say... HD! How can you not like Rusty! ::jaw drops:: he's one of the greatest drivers in history... he's up there in the points too, you don't get there by crashing cars. Heck, he's one of the few that can do well in spite of them stupid Charger bodies.

And about Stewart, I think he's about used up his stuff if Fontana wasn't proof. He's gone back to overdriving them into the ground (literally), and I dunno about Johnson looks like he's entering the same slump that Gordon is in... I'm beginning to think something isn't right with that shop... perhaps they should go and get some advice from Kyle and Brian hehehe

I'm not a Rusty fan because he is a butthead driver. Tony is tons younger, and has passed through his stage of being the annoying little kid... Rusty is still too impatient and too demanding.

I am also shouting for Jimmy Johnson.

Tony Stewart, dried up??? No, no - didn't you see him at the Brickyard?

I prefer to watch the Formula One/Grand Prix type racing.

I'm a fan of F1 too, I went to the Montreal Grand Prix once. My problem with F1 is that it's awfully predictable, you can pretty much the winner from qualifying.

What I also like is WRC (World Rally Championship). It's fun and quiet exhilarating to see those drivers navagate their way thru forests, tight turns and dirt roads. It's too bad it's not televised on North American TV very much. (Not even Speed Channel airs it anymore  )

It's on TSN and Sportsnet quite often, and it's occasionally on Speed, but it's not quite the season for broadcasts of it yet.
