NFL Picks...

51 posts in this topic

N F L...three letters that, for the outsider, mean so little, but for the rest of us, mean so much. It's the start of another glorious season full of bone crunching football. I, for one, am excited about this season. I'm hoping to improve on my mediocre picks from last year.

AFC East

*1. New England (This team will be tough to beat and has a real legitimate shot at repeating for a third time.)

2. NY Jets (Mega question marks surround this team. Hopefully Pennington will get it together)

3. Buffalo (Losman is their man, but he will go through some growing pains. Defense, as always will keep them in it)

4. Miami (Won't be as bad a last year. Fresh start for Miami).

AFC North

*1. Baltimore (Same defense, improved offense, this team looks pretty solid).

W2. Cinncinatti (Loaded with talent, can they prove they can win?)

3. Pittsburgh (The wheels will come off this year as the Steelers will fail to score when it counts.)

4. Cleveland (No, just no...can anything good come out of Ohio?)

AFC South

*1. Indianapolis (This has got to be Indy's "Put up or shut up" year)

W2. Houston (Still a sleeper team. I love Carr and Davis.)

3. J'Ville (Leftwich looks pretty special, but can Taylor avoid getting hurt?)

4. Tennessee (Titans, still stung by the 1999 loss to the Rams in the Super Bowl)

AFC West

*1. San Diego (Quality team with good players. They will be fun to watch).

2. Denver (A perenially good team).

3. Oakland (With the Indy style offense, Oakland will win a few more games.)

4. Kansas City (Returning to the cellar...)

------------------------------------------------------------

NFC East

*1. Philadelphia (The Eagles are on their way down after last year's apex.)

2. Dallas (The days of old, are they returning?)

3. NY Giants (Another team on the way down)

4. Washington (I just don't like the Skins...sorry Joe)

NFC North

*1. Minnesota (Another good product will be put out on the field. They won't miss Moss too much.)

2. Green Bay (Favre's final season, but it won't be that special)

3. Detroit (Improved, but not too much)

4. Chicago (Eh)

NFC South

*1. Carolina (Great defense, tempered offense...good team)

W2. Atlanta (Vick still leaves question marks in my mind though)

3. Tampa Bay (Nothing special)

4. New Orleans (Katrina will adversely affect this team. Won't really have a home to play in).

NFC West

*1. St. Louis (The Rams have retooled their defense well and Jackson looks sharp.)

W2. Arizona (Warner will do more than you might think. But we are still talking about Arizona)

3. Seattle (A team on the plummet. Too many lost in offseason)

4. San Francisco (It's so nice to see the niners lose, which they will continue this year)

*= Division Winner

W= Wildcard

AFC Championship Game:

Indianapolis at New England

Winner: New England

NFC Championship Game:

St. Louis at Minnesota

Winner: St. Louis

(Yes, these are almost the same as last year!)

Super Bowl 40

St. Louis vs. New England

Winner:

Saint Louis Rams

It's on the table...what are your pathetic picks?

AFC East

*1. NY Jets (Despite trading off Santana, this team should be able to win, they have great defense.)

W2. New England (Has lost of a ton of Talent on the Defense and both coordinators, Will make the play offs, but not repeat.)

3. Buffalo (Improving.)

4. Miami (Improving, but not there yet.)

AFC North

*1. Pittsburgh (In this weak division the realoaded Steel-City rolls..)

2. Baltimore (Second Best, but lack Offensive Fire Power to get the job done.)

3. Cincinnati (8-8 will be all they can muster. They're the Bangles  )

4. Cleveland (Give Romeo time.)

AFC South

*1. Indianapolis (Best Offense in the AFC, but can't win when it Matters.)

2. J'Ville (Leftwich has yet to prove himself, 9-7 doesn't make you special, but the divison lacks depth.)

3. Houston (Continues improving, but lack depth.)

4. Tennessee (Rebulding.)

AFC West

*1.Oakland (The surprise team of the year, in this, the best Div. in the NFL. Loaded on Offesnse and Defense look for them to shakethings up.)

w2. Sand Diego (Stout Defense, with solid preformance on Offense, but lacks Big PLay Potentinal of the Raiders.)

3. Denver (A perenially good team, in a tough division.)

4. Kansas City (A good team,in a tough division.)

------------------------------------------------------------

NFC East

*1. Philadelphia (The Eagles once again are the best team in their Division, and will win it, but not because of TO)

w2. Dallas (Big-D Returns.)

3. NY Giants (Improving.)

4. Washington (Question Marks.)

NFC North

*1. Detroit (The Surprise of the NFL. This team is loaded with talent and has a great coach.)

w2. Green Bay (Favre's final Huzzah, could make some noise.)

3. Minnesota (Will Falter down the streach run...Again.)

4. Chicago (Improving, but needs a Quarterback.)

NFC South

*1. Atlanta (Mr, Everything has help!)

2.Carolina (Nothing Special I)

3. Tampa Bay (Nothing special II)

4. New Orleans (Could be the feel good story of the year, probabbly not.)

NFC West

*1. Seattle (Could challenge the Eagles in this weak Conference.)

2.St. Louis (Untill Mike Martz is gone, this team will be no better than a Wild Card, and prolly not this year.)

3. Arizona (Warner hasn't been good in four years, that won't change anytime soon.)

4. San Francisco (Have Major Questions marks all over the place.)

*= Division Winner

W= Wildcard

(I in no way claim the following *will* happen)

AFC Championship Game:

NY Jets at Pittsburgh

Winner: Pittsburgh

NFC Championship Game:

Detroit at Atlanta

Winner: Atalanta

Super Bowl 40

Pittsburgh at Atlanta

Winner:

Pittsburgh (Yay! Thumb Ring!)

Ugh...no one's smart today.

(I'd make my own picks, but I honestly dont watch out side of my own division. But then again, when you live in the Black and Blue division, why would you need to?)

tsk tsk tsk. So sad

I wonder if the Packers are still hurting from that crushing loss to the Vikings last year?

<<Writers Note: This took me a few hours to do on Word thanks to my stupid Dail-up connection. Which will soon be gone when I get my cable back on Saturday. >>

Alright, I'll be crazy and throw my hat in. I don’t know if this will hold any water since I personally need to see how well the teams do during the season, but oh well, I had to throw my hat in. I feel I know enough where I can put some guesses out there.

Let's see how they hold up.

AFC East

*1. New England (All the teams in this division have stepped up their game, but I still have faith in the Pats, and still believe they could do the impossible and go onto a three peat)

2. NY Jets (They'll be in contention for the Wildcard, but I don't think they'll make it. The AFC is going to be tough this year.)

3. Buffalo (Another team that'll be coming in a close second. Greatly improving)

4. Miami (Also improving, but not there yet)

AFC North

*1. Baltimore (It's either them or Pittsburgh, but I'll go with them. I don't see much coming from Pittsburg. And Baltimore still has a great defense. Remember, Offenses win games, Defenses win Championships. Enough said.)

W2. Pittsburgh (They'll make the playoffs, but won't be doing anything special.)

3. Cleveland (Yea… enough said.)

4. Cincinnati (Ohhh no…)

AFC South

*1. Indianapolis (Great team in a weak division. I don't expect much from the other teams. This may be there year the Colts may make it all the way. I’ll wait and see if Peyton can hold up)

2. Jacksonville (Improving, and they'll probably be in the wild card race. But nothing special)

3. Houston (Meh...)

4. Tennessee (Needs some major help.)

AFC West

*1. San Diego (This was too tough to call, but I gave the nod to San Diego. They're a solid team, and expect they'll do well in one of the toughest division in the league this year)

W2. Denver (Ditto. They've improved, and they too will be a force to reckon with, they’ll be in the close Wildcard race as well as in the race to win in the division. I think they’ll make it)

3. Raiders (They have Randy Moss now, but I don’t know if he’ll be a major factor in this division.)

4. Kansas City (Solid team that needs work on its defense. If they hold up, they might do well this season, if not… well, you see where I put them)

------------------------------------------------------------

NFC East

*1. Philadelphia (I think they’ll make it, but I don’t see them making it to the Super Bowl again, especially with all the drama going on. They’re still a solid and balanced team.)

W2. Dallas (They’ve got a solid defense and an alright offense. They’ll make it to the playoffs.)

3. NY Giants (Working… and still need some help.)

4. Washington (Yea… needs some MAJOR help.)

NFC North

*1. Minnesota (I think they’ll make it this year. They’ve be working hard, and they did make the playoffs last year, so I can see them winning)

2. Green Bay (Yea… Brett should go the way of Jerry Rice *now*… he’s had his glory, but now he’s just stretching it. Sorry.)

3. Detroit (Eh, somewhat good, but nothing special)

4. Chicago (Yea… no.)

NFC South

*1. Atlanta (They still have Vick, and they’ve actually gotten some other good players! Vick won’t have to carry them completely to the NFC Championship… again.)

W2. Carolina (I still like this team. I think they have a tremendous potential to do good this season.)

3. Tampa Bay (It hurts me to do this… but they need some help)

4. New Orleans (My heart goes out to them… but yea… it’ll be a tough year for them.)

NFC West

*1. Seattle (This division just stinks… I still don’t see anything special in any of them. I’ll just give the nod to Seattle cause they’re probably do the best in this division)

2. St. Louis (Yea… no)

3. San Francisco (They might do somewhat better with their new QB, but not that much better.)

4. Arizona (Still need help here.)

*= Division Winner

W= Wildcard

(I too in no way claim the following *will* happen)

AFC Championship Game:

Indianapolis at New England

Winner: New England

NFC Championship Game:

Philadelphia at Atlanta

Winner: Atlanta

Super Bowl 40

New England vs. Atlanta

Winner: New England.

If not a three peat, then the Colts are going to make it this year and win. The AFC is just far superior to the NFC once again this year.

Check back midseason and I’ll probably be tweaking my picks like I always do. ;)

<<EDIT: I know that my Championship picks are basically like last years, but I really think that those teams are the really the only ones with the potential to make it that far.>>

Don't worry...by week 5, teams start playing like their talent level (Which is why the Steelers will be fighting the Browns for the basement. :) )

Week one of fantasy football is coming to a close (as I watch the Falcons/Eagles game) and though I like to pretend that I understand the scoring ... I really don't. I just click the "submit roster" and hold on tight. So far my "team" is ahead (no thanks to Brett! I may have to bench him next week.) but we'll see after tonights game.

Do you play fantasy football? How did you do on week one?

I did really well this week, but I was playing (arguably) the worst team in the league. I also found that that my tight end retired in the begining of August. :)

Maybe a few games.. but I'm willing to bet $5 (Canadian!) that they won't even make the Playoffs! :)

::snickers at Wimbley:: the "Stillers" did much better than the Iggles (If you were from the area you'd get the joke) :D

Anyway...my Fantasy team did really well against one of the better teams in the 16 person leauge I am in...my WR really came through for me :(

And for the Bangles fan: It was the Browns....Oooooo :(

I went 2-0 this week in my league thanks to some good work from my WR. And the Rams won, so I'm happy.
