Are you a football fanatic?   20 members have voted

  1. 1. Are you a football fanatic?

    • Heck yea! Give me an NFL game, a six pack, and couch to nap on and I automatically lose function of half my brain cells while I grunt for my favorite team.

    • College football rocks! And don't talk smack about my team or I will beat you to death with my "#1" foam finger.

NFL kickoff is this Thursday and the NCAA college games are already in progress. (Sorry, I don't follow CFL or AFL leagues.) I, for one, am already anticipating the NCAA playoffs and the Super Bowl. There aren't many sports I follow. I watch baseball now and again, usually around World Series time. I love going to Hockey games, but find them boring to watch on TV. But football... that's another story. I'm not a crazed fanatic, I can't quote you stats on any of the players, and I couldn't tell you who is coaching... but I love to watch the games. (And no, I'm not just watching the game to admire at the player's butts.)

College football is my favorite. I think that stems from growing up in the South (Alabama), where nearly EVERYONE has a favorite college team. Some joke that in 'Bama, you are either a University of Alabama fan or an Auburn University fan. No other teams matter. Every state has a rivalry or two, so I'm sure most of you know what I mean.

I'm a huge Auburn fan. Last season they went 13-0 and won the SEC Championship, but didn't break away enough to gain the national title. Unfortunately, this year they've started off badly, losing their first game of the season tonight. I'm not giving up on them, though. I enjoy the games and watch as many as I can... especially when they play Alabama. And they'd better win again this year! War Eagle!

And I suppose that I can't end this post without giving some support to the Pittsburgh Steelers. My husband has loved them since he was a kid, so I'm a fan by proxy. Go Steelers! ::waves her terrible towel::

So? How do you guys feel about football?

Poor Auburn, they really didn't look good tonight. ::ducks::

I like all football, but I am diehard college (again from growing up in the semi-south). In my state there are two 'major' college teams, but only one matters...and that's the one I attended The West Virginia University.

We open tomorrow on ABC against Syracuse, should be fun. Let's Go Mountaineers! :P

As for the NFL, there is only one team: The Steelers! ::waves terrible towel::

You see, you seem to be mistaken. Football is this game where you have two teams on a green and your team's objective is to get a round ball into the opposing team's net. You do this by kicking the ball with your feet. The game you're talking about? Well there was once this other game called rugby and some very silly people decided to change the rules, but that's another story.

Woot Woot. Gooooo football. The last seven months have left me empty and now I'm back in the swing of things.

In college football. I gotta root for my three big Florida teams (Miami, Florida, and Florida State). Although I always root for FSU (Go Noles!). College Football sure can confuse me at times, but gosh darn it, it's great football. :P

Pro football, I'm still sticking with the Pats, gotta love them. (::Gives Dak the eye, cause he's sure he has some smarmy comment to say about this:: ) And I'll keeping hoping that the Bucs get their stuff together and go back to level they use to be at.

And I have no idea who's probably going to the Super Bowl. There are a bunch of teams out there who have stepped up their game and are definitely in contention, but ask me half way through the season, by then I'm always 99% sure who's going and who's not.

Yea... gotta love Football :)

Go State! We beat USF yesterday.

In the pros: Go Pats. I don't yet know enough about CFL to choose a team (that's my project fro next summer). As for the AFL that starts in February. I'm not sure about AF2, though

The 5 nearest teams to me are the SJSU Spartans, Stanford, 49ers, Cal-Berkeley, and Raiders. They all suck.

I hate football.

I love football, but college football does nothing for me. I'm a longtime Rams fan even when they were in Los Angeles.

Someone move that report button please I almost reported Images.

I'm not north american so I get to see football about twice a year. Needless to say I don't have a favourit team. I do however like to watch the game but I never quite understood why a game that is mostly played with your hands should be called football. But then...what do I know?

I don't know. All I do know is that I waited months to see the glory that is Brett Farve throwing a football.

I dislike college football very much, but only because I live in a college town and game days are little slices of hell to drive through (and the team colors are a tad obnoxious).

As for pro, I do like to sit down and watch a game now and then. It has been a while since I've done so, and if you knew my "team" you'd probably not let me hear the end of it... in my defense they've been my team since I was four and too little to know better. Yet every year at least one person lets me know what a crappy team the Raiders are...
