sceduled times

can you make them earlier?

I disagree, the times they're at right now are good enough. Having sims during the day would just be weird. Early night too, I like them at late night, for example: 10 and 11 pm EDT.

Those times also work well for the people on the pacific coast, the times would be around 7 and 8, which isn't too bad. If they decrease the times, people on the pacific coast may begin to have problems.

Academies are run when the hosts are able to do so. Remember that GMs all have jobs and families and other commitments to deal with, so we can't just create new academies with a snap of our fingers. We try to offer a range of days and times so that everyone can find something that suits their schedule. I know it's difficult for those not in the Americas to attend our sims, as they tend to be extremely early or extremely late for the other hemisphere, but there's not much we can do about that at this point in time. We're always working on improving the forum, but we are constrained by Real Life. (Annoying thing that it is; I know I'd rather be simming. :P )

It's interesting that someone brought this up. I have a friend in Europe who wants to join, but he doesn't want to get up at 3 am to simm.

I believe it's been brought up before. Actually, I can think of a few people in STSF that aren't from the States, but rather from Europe, or even one in Australia. It can be done.

From the frequently asked questions list (FAQ):

Q: I can't make any of the sims scheduled. Can you schedule one for a different day and time?

A: STSF offers a wide range of days and times for their sims, but please remember the GMs are volunteers with off-line demands on their time as well. Consequently the forum cannot accommodate all requests for particular days or times, though simmers are always welcome to make suggestions.

If we had more GM's from different time zones (specifically, Europe and Asia) who were willing to do it, it might be possible. But, for now, there's really not much we can do.

I know remember simming with Images, back on the Aegis when he still lived in Hong Kong. I think it was just around the opposite time there, so he was simming at like 10 in the morning :P

I remember when I was fourteen, and started simming here, the only acad I could attend was the early night tuesday one with Jami, which is why it took me 3 weeks to graduate :)

I know there are legitmate complaints behind the want for earlier or just different time sims, but Harper raises the tell tale point that the GM's are real people (I know it hard to believe) with lives (sort of :P) and schedules. Of course, if you have hook ups with a bi lingual person on the other side of the globe, Im sure you'd get some kudos from the council.

Short Answer: The GM's try, but until we find a noctural man (::points to himself:B) or someone that lives in a proper timezone, theres not much you'll be able to do except take some No Doze and avoid waking up your parents.

Heh, till The end of Summer I still am! :)

Its only when I go back to England in September is it going to be hell to do this! I'll be up at somewhere around 4 in the morning. But like a postman, through rain or sunshine or whatever the oath, I'll keep trying.

P.S

Doesn't anyone else find it strange that its taken this long for someone to take the name "Captain Kirk"?

Hey there,

Well, as someone who is most certainity not in North America at the moment, I can understand the desire for additional sim times. However, there is another factor to remember.

As an organization, we are not going to launch new Academy sims at...let's say...12:00pm ET when there are no Advanced sims operating at that time. It would be unfair to have someone go thru the Academy process, graduate and find that the only sim they are capable of participating on is taking place too early in the morning.

For this very reason, I think it will be some time before such a thing happens. Now, that being said, is it impossible? No...but won't happen overnight.

I agree there are enough Academy and Advanced times to find one or two that suit you, and the GM's "do" have lives as well as us players. At some point yes, there may be more time opportunities. But really, STSF does have a lot of sims going right now.

However, speaking from personal experience, don't overtax yourself. If you think that a second or third sim is too much for you, then listen to your instincts. I recently backed out of a 3rd sim because I realized it was too much for me right now. :P

Start with one sim/academy and go from there.

And yes, it is funny no one chose Captain Kirk for a name yet. :)

I can definatly see the people who want to change point because I am in highschool and its coming up soon I am also starting junior year which is the hardest with the most papers and stuff. But I can always go to the ones at nine. So I cant complain but it wouldnt be a bad thing if it changed but its not an immediat thing (look at me I am siding with blu thats a change :P sorry blu its just that we seem to argue alot)

well all i can say on the subject of scheduling the sims..........THANK GOD.....for our

GM staff/board ........they do have their hands full doing the work they do...and it is

w o r k ....juggiling this site and sims/forums/coordinating it all so that we do have one of the best sim sites on the net........and trying to have a real personal life some where

in between.......now if we can all work together to fix this J A V A pain in the neck(about 24-36 inches below the neck) problem we as a whole seem to be having

things would run smoother.....in closing .....salutations and hats off to the board members and a big thank you ....for the job you are all doing and goes unappreciated i am sure many times..............thank you... :) :P

We've talked about this more than few times. And as everyone else has said, what it comes down to is availablity of GM's. We all have busy lifes beyond the computer, and while we try and devote as much time as possible, we can't do everything. :P

I don't know about anyone else, but I don't want the GMs giving up their normal lives, even if it means more simming. That just wouldn't be fair.

thats true it isnt fair to them but we could hire other GM's who work nights or something like that but anyway I still like it the way it is now

thats not always the gms fault. They have to wait for people to come, a lot of acad sims it hits 10 pm and theres only a few people. Then they have to wait for everyone to pm them for a post. Then set up a roster(which isn't that long)

Some of the time the gms do make up for starting late, by killer panada bears.
