Gas...

60 posts in this topic

I'm suprised no bodies discussed this yet, but I think I'll bring up the gas prices. I was wondering how much everyone pays since the most places where I live (West of the Twin Cities) is around $2.70, although the gas station that I work at does sell regular unleaded for $2.49 at the moment.

So, whats everyone pay, wheres the cheapest you've found, and how long till you resort to random bank robbery for gas money? ;)

Yeah, gas here isn't much better, actually passing $1.00/litre today. (Was 102.1 cents/litre for the weekened). But gas prices fell back down to 96 cents cents/litre. Couldn't find one cheaper than that.

$2.59 here... but that's the price you pay for a spineless Congress (a non-partisan jab at all lawmakers). ;)

The 1st Amendment starts "Congress shall create no law..." Why couldn't they stop there?

In San Jose, CA it is $2.59/gal for the cheap stuff if you want to drive across town to get it.

Around the edges of town it's $2.49/gallon, but if you go to the little stations in the middle of town that make you feel edgy and you wonder how many people have gone in, not come back, and had their car sold in the little parking lot next door... well anyways, gas at those places is sometimes as good as $2.41. I considered buying a bike, but I don't have any money to buy one after buying gas...

Well the price of gasoline where I am in B.C is about 110.9 a liter. So about $1.10/liter (do ppl in the U.S use gallons?) and thats alot! well for us. I heard on the news that some people from B.C drive down to the U.S border to get gas at a cheaper price- but from what I've heard I dont think it's cheaper. I wish we had a different fuel source....like umm uummmm....I'll figure that out later.

Hess has been the best, but was up to $2.57 today, but was not open yet when I needed gas on the way to work at 4:30am. So, $2.67 this morning for unleaded at the Shell station. Didn't have time to wait in line at the Exxon for the $2.53 Tuesday special that was going on. Premium was $2.89.

Way outside of Chicago you can find gas for $2.38. As you get closer and closer to Chicago, just on the outer suberbs, gas shoots to $2.75. I'm not sure of downtown, I fear going in there for running out of gas and not having enough money to fill my tank so I can leave.

I used to, way back about a year ago, spend $18 to fill my tank. Now, I'm spending average of $26. All I can say is thank heavens I have a car that gets 38 mpg. I pitty SUV drivers.

Well last time I checked it was round $6.10/gallon (I double-checked this figure.) in Germany. So does anyone still wonder why I can't afford a car?

::snickers::

For a small explination, your gas price is relative to, among other things, the ease to which transportation to the area is from the major refineries. :)

Also remember that some states have higher or lower or none at all in the gas tax department. My state, WV has a 9/10 cent gas tax.

And I just looked today, gas went up over night to 2.59. :P

I heard that it costs ~ $60.00 just to get a full tank of gas in B.C. Bikes are alot cheaper and air is free- well for now. But I don't like bikes.

My cars got a large gas tank, but she gets fairly decent mpg, something around 25-30. I haven't been able to run the tank empty to check the millege and do the math again since I fear that gas will peak unbelievebly when I do...

ummmm borders from a $1/litre and $1.12/litre, it's not really so bad though, my new car costs the same to fill the tank as what my old one did with lower gas prices plus I have to fill up less often :P so no complaints from me

Travis, have you tried the E-85? I was very tempted when I was up your way this summer, but I didn't want my rental to die somewhere between Anoka and Wadena :P

I had to fill up today, and while my mini-van (I know, I know ... such an UN-Dac-like vehicle) gets decent milage, I'm hoping the car manufacturers come up with a seven passenger vehicle with HIGH mpg soon -- or could the midwest please start shipping E-85 out to Virginia??
