But flat....is flat not 3D right?

Well if you take the word flat that literally, nothing on the planet would be flat and the word would not exist! I think its a given that anything of a less than normal height could be considered flattened. Since most flats only exist on one floor, they're flattened houses if you want to think about it that way. :P

Ah but it does. :P

A flat usually consists of only one floor in height so it's flat. When you have a group of them on top of eachother you have, like a pack of cards, a block of flats.

What? Huh? Now my brain hurts....

One of my pet peeves is the saying "The thing of it is..."

I mean, what does that really mean? And is it necessary to say it at all?

Thanks :P I always say 'Well technically...' then state all the errors that the person could make with their ideas ect. Some find it annoying...

Americans have an accent. :) Several of them in fact! :P

Edit: Oh and besides I have what could only be called a Colonial Accent. One moment I'm as posh as Noel Coward, the next minute I sound like Guy Smiley.

Flats are different then apartments here, flats are having the entire floor to yourself.
