another useless topic ;)

-Going to get a catscan....where did that come from? can you get your cat scanned?

-Cat got your tongue....did someone actually have their tongue grabbed by a cat?

-You have two left feet....Did someone, at some point in time, try to dance and had a medical condition that gave him two left feet?

-Hitting the road....why do we encourage road assault?

-Hold your horses....do people have little horses inside them?

i'll think of more...add your own!

Obviously this dates back to when horses were our primary means of transportation. "Hold your horses" meant don't be in a hurry to leave.

As does the phrase, "It'll cost you an arm and a leg" Back when painted portraits were the only way to display yourself, limbs and extra body parts cost more, hence the term, cost you an arm and a leg.

Well CAT is actually short for "Computed Axial Tomography". You'll also sometimes hear it referred to as a "CT scan" where CT is simply referring to "Computer Tomography". Sorry it's not more interesting!

The one which just irritates me is "we'll cross that bridge when we get to it" meaning "we'll do a task at a better time". Well its annoying for me because its impossible to cross the bridge till you get to it so you couldn't even do the job at a bad time if you wanted to...."we'll build that bridge when we get to the river" makes a lot more sense since you can build a bridge before you get to the river but it would be at a less prudent time.

That's my rant. Absolutely inane. :P

ok when i was little i would say

"yipee-eye-yay the cows in the hay" when somehting good happened

im band we quote movies and shows alot on of the most popluar quotes is from zoolander,

mugato-uncovers a model of a building "i present the darrik zoolander center for kids who cant read good"

zoolander- looks puzzled "what is this," knockes model over "a center for ants!... its going to have to be, at least... 3 times this size"

mugato- loos at his assistant "hes absolutely right!"

A phrase I hate to hear is "It's a grey area", especially when it is applied to ethical issues. Too often things are labeled as "grey" to either avoid taking an ethical stand or so they can continue to call something "black" when it is probably "white".

Yep that's from "Almost Heroes" Matthew Perry asks the crazy old man who said it what the rest of the saying is and he replies, "That's it!"

What about when people say 'I got a frog in my throat' That would seriously cause some damage, and possibly death depending on the size of the frog, and if it is piosonous or not. Ofcourse if it was a tadpole, and not fully developed then it might not cause too much damage, and how would it stay in your throat? Wouldn't you want to puke it up?

Nope but coughs usually accompany a sore throat, creating a croaky sound. The frog in the throat also resmbles how when you're ill your throat tightens up making it hard to swallow, almost as if an obstacle was in the way so the frog fits in there!

Why are they called apartments when they're stuck together? :) :P

Well that's why they're called flats! Dear oh dear, what are they teaching you all across that pond?

Ah but it does. :)

A flat usually consists of only one floor in height so it's flat. When you have a group of them on top of eachother you have, like a pack of cards, a block of flats.
