Once More, With Feeling

“Once More, With Feeling”

“Now your lying on the floor, yeah you can’t take anymore. The Devils laughing in your face, give me another taste...” - Rob Zombie, “House of a 1000 Corpses”

He stood over the man, his hands covered in a sickly green blood. He had just killed him. His life was over because of him...

He vomited.

Destorie had given him the knife back on a plaque, as some sort of sick joke. It was still stained with the blood from the mans jugular.

He vomited again.

Thoughts began to swirl in his head. After he was able to stare at the knife without becoming sick, what he had done began to sink in. He had ended his life. Killed someone’s son, probably a Husband and a Father. He paused for a moment, expecting to become sick again...but he didn’t. Instead, new thoughts pulsed through his being. The power to kill, to end a life as easy as that...was somewhat intoxicating. The more he thought about it, the less it disturbed him, and the less it disturbed him, the more he knew what he was thinking was wrong.

He vomited again.

...

He stood over Kamala’s broken body, the intoxication flooding him again. Another life, another son taken by his hand...Nothing. Nothing happened. He didn’t regret it, he didn’t feel sick...He just, didn’t feel. It was a Testament to just how much the experience on the Iron claw had warped him. He looked around: Sydney and Kairi looked like they were about to lose it, Ron and Malik were crouched over the lifeless alien, while Prell was just shaking.

In the blink of an eye, everything had just gone to Hell. Inwardly, he smiled.

This was more like it...

“I think that God, in creating man somewhat overestimated his abilities” - Oscar Wilde (1854-1900)
