Thank you for the entire answer to that I myself would like to see the manual that you have.

The manual itself needs some editing, but I'll see what I can do and it can be posted in Microsoft Word format to the forum here.

The manual was basically a summary of the TNG Tech manual for people who didn't want to read the whole thing but wanted to have a basic understanding of systems.

oh well I do have the Tech Manual so I guess I dont "need" yours but I would still like to see it but anyway anything anyone has on transporters

Oh yes ;) :)

so transporters they basically break down your molecular struture and store your pattern then send it off somewhere else where its put back together

how about shield generation in actual practice :D

? I didnt know they actually had shield generators

hint :discussion on the pros and cons of r&d of said system..... :D

Ah, now this is the bit that gets cool. There are such things as forcefields already in existence, in the form of the 'plasma window'. Because plasma (high energy ionised gas) carries a charge, it can be channeled into a thin plate of gas using electrical fields. This has been done to a limited extent and the plate of gas is called the 'plasma window'. It's VERY similar to forcefields and shields in ST... see the November 1, 1995 edition of the Journal of Applied Physics for more.

and can ,and is being used in new homes ...some what upscale homes.....to display

television and or movies, computer screen.etc..

however it is not a true force field/screen/shield .....it requires x2 paynes of glass

with the gas sandwiched between.

a true generated screen/field would be projected /generated around an object to a

finite distance from the object enclosed within said field without any "strucural support"

in theory this field once obtained could be weakend or reinforced by power generation

and distribution throughout said field (much like an electro magnetic field) can be

controlled by direct power input increase or decrease..whew ..talk about geeking out.

and literally said that in two breaths.........

:) :D

Ah, my grinder-obsessed friend, (would someone explain that to me?) not only can it be held between glass, but also can it be held between electric fields making it a proper forcefield. The only problem is that it's an effort to set up and takes a lot of energy. Oh, and there will need to some structure to generate the electric fields and ionise the gas... but it can be forcefieldy. Such is the joy of plasma.

so its pretty much eletric currents running between to electrical devices is that right or am I not grasping this

OK; it's electric fields generated by electric devices. You know traditional TVs, right? They have Cathode Ray Tubes, which use electric fields to move a beam of electrons about the screen. Here, we use electric fields to move hot electrically charged gas, so we can form a hot screen of gassyness and hold it in place using electric fields. Touching it is an ouchie. :-)

so to touch it is basically the equivalent of 1000 time the shock you get when you touch a tv screen

well you could always try defibbing your self at oh lets say 360 joules for a real hoot

as a tv evangelest has said :place your hands on the tvvvv-yuh,..and feel the power.

I say put your hands into the back of the powered tv and feel the real power... :D :)
