You've got mail

Snake always found it amusing how the Military can go from Warp 5 to stationkeeping in a New York minute. Just an hour earlier they were docking at McKinley Station after being "missing" for 6 months. Now all systems were at minimal power, the Challenger's power generation systems were replaced by the Stations power, and a major refit was quickly underway. Snake had to download his backlogged mail into a padd while the mail servers were still on.

He was waiting for his shuttle that was going to take him to the Colorado Springs Advanced Navigational school, the Start Fleet school for pilots. They had a simulator designed to simulate the upgrades underway for Challenger. He had about a half hour before departure to Denver so he dug his padd out of his backpack and started sifting through the mountainous amount of mail. After a few minutes he saw an email from his Mother, dated 2 days after they "disappeared". The contents of the mail were shocking enough to make him jump up and run to the scheduling counter.

"I need the next flight to Richmond Virginia!" Snake yelled in excitement at the counter person.
