No Seat belts on StarShips!

34 posts in this topic
Under normal circumstances, this is not a problem. First, if the ship is going at constant speed, the people on the inside should be able to walk around and not feel a thing (it's an inertial reference frame). Second, if the ship accelerates or decelerates under normal procedures, the "inertial dampers" (whatever the heck they are) exactly oppose the motion that would be felt from the acceleration.

The only time this is an issue is when the ship is either jostled around so fast that the ID can't react fast enough, or when the inertial dampers fail.

"bingo "......id fails=bodies fly around and slam into various objects(momentum and a body tends to remain in motion until acted upon by an object or force to cancel said motion )...and theres the fun in no seat belts....understand ???... ;) :D :D

You always see what happens on the bridge or in engineering when no one is wearing seatbelts, but what happens in personal quarters?

I mean, if you're hit and people are being thrown across the bridge you have to assume that the poor person who is asleep in their bed also is thrown across the room. How come we never see footage of that?

And if you installed seatbelts on the bridge, what would you do for the people asleep in their beds? If you have a good safety restraint system sleeping might become less enjoyable, especially if you toss and turn.

Safety restraints might cause Helm officers to drive more recklessly. Think of the children! ;)
