"Bad Morning"

“Bad Morning”

Engineering Log

Ensign Jerry Graham

Challenger NX-05

BEGIN---

This morning was a very strange one indeed, all I remember was reading a letter from my son, he’s already fighting with his Grandparents about having to go to Kindergarten next. He wrote me, actually my Mom wrote me what Jason my son was saying to her, he’s is trying to explain how going to school was not good for nap times. I found this very amusing seeing how he hated nap times. Well had never had kids so I asked Tom Robertson, my room mate, what I should do about him. He told me to take away his Sugar. I had no problem with that he was always sneaking into the Sugar bowl and getting himself hyper because he thought it was funny. On a personal Note I do miss the little guy, a lot.

Well next morning when I woke up I felt all weird, something strange happened while I was out. I went for a shelf, and pulled out some cereal, I keep some food in my quarters just in case I don’t feel like going down and begging Chef for some scrambled eggs with apple slices mixed in. Well Tom and I talked for quite awhile about the dreams we had had. They were very closely related. Then I wondered if the rest of the crew had similar experiences. The first one I thought of was Will. I opened up a channel to him, and come to find out he did have a bit of a nasty night as well. I knew something was up, Will told me to get down to Engineering a.s.a.p. So Tom left for his maintenance duties and I went off to Engineering.

When I got in there I felt like making a little humorous start of the day, so when I get in there I say loudly, “Morning Boys” Will just gave me a look of get over here. I was a bit taken back by his straight face and no smile in the morning. I later found out why. He explained the situation to me, and I explained to him what Tom had told me. He didn’t look to happy to hear the news. I was told to give him a Ship Wide Diagnostic Check very soon.

I like to keep a fresh pot of Coffee in Engineering for work like this, back in the day when Will, Aaron, and I were ensigns and all Engineers we liked to share a cup now and again, so I kept in there I felt the Will would have no problems with it. I did the Check and I found nothing wrong with the Ship. I went down and told Will the good news but he was a bit busy with two bickering Engineers. Conner and Lazarus were yelling at eachother. Will and I told them to calm down, more Will than me though, seeing as how I have no rights to be giving out orders. Then Conner turned on Will and I, I wanted nothing more than to get him good in the face, but I knew that would make a bad situation worse. He threatened both, when Will ordered him to get out and go to Sickbay. He didn’t go to sickbay. Security was sent after him.

After the excitement, I told Will that there was nothing wrong with Challenger. He didn’t seem to trust what he was reading. He ordered Lazarus and myself to triple check our work. So went back up stares and poured myself another cup, and went to check it three more times. When I was finished I decided to leave the report on Will’s desk, went back to my station and replied to my sons letter. All I told him was he was he picked up a bad habit of his mothers, he worries way to soon in advance.
