Sci Fi Fridays

27 posts in this topic

General discussion thread for all the Friday shows on Sci Fi channel.

I'll start by going off happily: How in the Name of Hoo Hah Did I Miss Firefly when it first aired a couple years ago!? This show rocks! Did anyone see that sawed off carbine that Zoe pulled from her hip holster in tonights episode - Serenity Part 2? Can I get wanna them on the Agincourt? It'll help with, uh, Security missions. Muwah.

Loving it! Okay y'all have at it - BSG, SG-1, SG Atlantis, Firelfly. The Good, Bad, and Ugly.

I came at the end of FireFly so i didn't see it. I Love Sg-1 been a fan for 3 years, any eps i havn't watched on tv i got the dvd version. All the new characters make the show feel a bit weird, but the up coming eps with a brand new enemy should be great. I watched all of atlantis last year and this season is really growing on me. Poor ford, you'll be ok hang in there bud  . As for BSG, i don't know what to think, so far i've stayed to watch after atlantis, but most of the time i end up changing around, I hope to watch more eps of it.

YupYup, now besides ST and B5, my new cool favorite show is Firefly. I started renting the DVDs and halfway through the second disc I realized that I had to own all four discs so I could watch them over and over. VERY COOL!

So sad that it was doomed from the start. The two-part pilot (the one that explains all of the character origins) was deemed too boring by Fox, so they didn't let it be aired until the end of the entire run of 11 episodes. The DVD (and what SciFi Channel will be airing) includes 3 episodes that were never aired for a total of 14 shows and that's the whole series. The movie ("Serenity," coming out in September) looks like it will be great, too.

Sci Fi has a very good Friday night line up now. Battlestar Galactica is getting better and better.

FOX claimed Firefly's pilot was too boring? Hang on and let me get my shovel because that is quite a load there.

Latest Firefly trivia bit. Do you realize that the producer for the series and writer of a few of the 14 episodes is Ben Edlund. He was a writer on Angel (no big surprise), he wrote the screenplay for Titan A.E. and...

Anyone gonna get there before me?

He is the creator/writer of... "The Tick"!!

The Tick is yet another amazing, underrated creation. Not just the live action version, but the original comic book and cartoon show.

The live action version of the tick was pretty funny, as was the cartoon.

Go, see Serenity when it comes out, or I'll have to bring down something on these forums ;)

It sucks that I don't get Sci fi Fridays in Canada  I don't get the sci fi channel either. I wish Space Channel would do something similar. Heck we don't even have BSG season 2 here yet ;)

Guitly as charged for resurrecting this thread..But it's the proper one to put this post I feel.

Hope all caught Galactica's episode..."Final Cut". I thought this was just going to be a gee whiz we have a guest star epi...didn't need Lucy Lawless as the reporter portrayed in that story to carry the show..

Except perhaps for that final scene...

STSF Precip

PS Starting to get hooked on Stargate Atlantis...Maybe that is why Sci Fi put it before Battlestar.

Firefly was the only recent Sci-Fi show that I watched every week.

(Sorry, not even Enterprise could tempt me.)

I saw it in the beginning on FOX and was addicted from the first show. I watched every week and SCREAMED when I found out it was cancelled. That ticked me off to no end. I had to buy the DVDs the day they were released.

I'm not-so-patiently awaiting the arrival of the Firefly movie, Serenity, due to come out on September 30th! (As if you hadn't already heard me say this a dozen times by now.)

I'm very glad that the Sci-Fi channel picked up Firefly for others to enjoy!

For those of you who need more firefly, there's a comic book mini series (3 issues) that bridges the gap between the tv show and the movie.

Of Fridays shows, I think Atlantis takes first, followed by BSG, and SG-1

Babylon just wasn't all that interesting. To me it was an show where Jaffa could actually shoot for once ;)

Conversion, was like...Badamn! Its just, badamn! Stayed up and watched it again :D I dont know about anyone else, but one of my favorite plot lines for anything is when a good guy goes evil for some reason. Hence, Conversion rocked my socks baby.

Final Cut was excellent. When I saw the previews, I almost groaned, but at the same time, there hasn't been a BSG eppisode to date that I didn't enjoy, so I gave them the a chance to play it out. While it wasn't as good as the other ones "33" and "Home 1&2" still top my list, but it was a very enjoyable one.

As always, I love the Tigh ones too...Oh my drunken Colonel...

Yep! I'm one of those recent converts due to Sci Fi picking the show up! I love Westerns, and having a western science fiction hybrid thats done so well, it is really a no brainer to enjoy Firefly. I plan on seeing Serenity opening weekend.

if i were to go see the movie w/out ever seeing an episode, would i be totally lost, or do you think the story would be presented in a way that explained it all?

Probably not. The movie itself is an adapted version of a couple of eppisodes of the series. I'm not sure which ones, but yeah...

Actually, in an interview of Joss Whedon, he said that his first draft of the movie's screenplay was 160 pages long and was, basically, the second season of "Firefly." He then cut it down to a workable two-hour movie, so it should take off from where season one left off.

Whats with the whole wild west theme going on in that show. Space ships in one scene then cut to a scene in with cowboys running about?

Yep, that is pretty much it, not much to explain: they have ships, and are cowboys and cowgirls, and horses show up periodically.

Western Sci Fi Hybrid...Love it! :)
