Lieutenant Dave Grey

----------------------------------------------------

It appeared that things were not exactly going as plan. That was okay though, because Grey had never really been clear on what the plan had been in the first place.

Things had started well. Suspicious but not overly-suspicious guards greeted them at the palace entry and escorted them to the computer room. From there, it was a simple matter of waiting and looking innocent while Lt.jg T’Parek inserted the virus. Grey had a little trouble with this, as acting had never been his forte. It appeared that he had not revealed their identity, however, because the computer virus was successfully inserted.

Yes, that was when things went wrong. The computer technicians at the palace were not asleep, nor were they idiots, much to Grey’s chagrin. Although he did not know exactly what had happened, he knew enough to know that what he knew was known. What he was trying to say was that he knew that they had been discovered, and the palace was being locked down. So he thought it was a good idea when they ran.

The running part also did not proceed as planned. Luckily, Lt. Giovanni was able to throw some guards off their scent by sending false orders from one of their wrist communication devices. Unfortunately, his actions were in vain, because there seemed no way out. Commodore Moose led the team into the palace catacombs, hoping, Grey thought, to find an unguarded exit. What they found was much more disturbing.

The Empress herself was waiting for them in the catacombs, flanked of course by several guards who were conveniently in a position to pursue the team should they choose to flee. Being confronted by the Empress was not as shocking as the Empress’ identity, however. When Grey rounded the corner, he had never expected to be confronted with the ruthless face of Hoshi Sato.

In his own universe, she was the communications officer on Enterprise, the first warp 5 ship and predecessor to Challenger. The crew of that starship, from Captain Archer to the lowliest enlisted crewman, were respected and revered by humans, Starfleet and non-Starfleet alike. In this twisted version, it appeared that they were no more different than Grey’s own disturbing counterpart.

The shock would wear off, eventually. But by then, Grey feared he would be in some dank cell, with plenty of time to think about it.
