Sad thing is that I was on it before I got here!

It doesn't really interest me any more, but I went to pick up my intrest (I just love money, even if it's not real) and look for info on Viacom buying it.

My little cousins (Ranging from 15 to 9) are into Neopets. Me though, no.. that's just not my cup of tea. I can barely take care of my house plants, much less some demanding virtual on-line pet. Plus, the intended age target for Neopets is a bit lower than my age too.

Actually, it is around your age. Their target demographic is college students.

Yeah, I'm 18 and I joined it...but then I have a weakness for cute and cuddly animals.

Yeah, but there's the responsibility factor too, though. You have to feed it, play with it, buy it all those acessories.. Geez, knowing me, it'd be dead in less than a week. lol..

They don't ever die, Seiben. They can be sick and dying, but you can always nurse them back to health.

::continues tipping hat::

That I do, mam, That I do.

They even gave me this handy guide:

Instructions For Eating for Profit

Step One: Acquire some tribbles that you desire to consume.

Step Two: Produce a knife, or dagger.

Step Three: Spear the tribble onto the utensil.

Step Four: Bring the Tribble into the mouth and withdraw the knife while leaving the Tribble inside the mouth.

Step Five: Chew.

Step Six: Chew thoroughly.

Step Seven: Swallow.

Step Eight: Repeat the proccess until the rest of the ftribbles has been devoured.

Step Nine: Chide yourself for needing a guide to such a simple concept.

^_^

::hat falls::

Ok, I'll stop.

n...... ow!

Okay, two words - CUTE and ADDICTING. Help...Help..and Help. I've always been a sucker for cute furry animals. I do believe I'm getting sucked in. Gotta go! Need to feed the Neopet.

I remember Neopets from the early - mid 90's; I think it started out as an electronic keychain game?

Thanks Merina for site link. I think. :D

Someone in my family got me a key chain Yoda to take everywhere with me when they were really popular. Long story short, he wouldn't clean up his hut and I got mad and took his batteries out. He still sits on my desk but I don't have the heart to put his battery back in cuz I know he won't clean. It was a life lesson. Since then I have killed 3 fish and 2 plants. I should never have kids. :P

Regarding this current NeoPets site, I agree with mtporter (and koolaidman) with some of thier points. I did try it out, got a pet, it was fun for a couple days, but I am unsubscribing from the site. Combination of manipulation on the part of the site and mild frustration on my part.

Gaining points to spend on the pet using the site's mini games was fine. But, when you try and go and spend the points? 4 out of 5 times the stores are sold out, and it was a fluke the couple times I was able to get something, and typically I grabbed what was available before it was all gone. Then, say you are playing with your pet? "Thanks, but all the other pets have more toys then me." ??? I had, like, five different toys.

The kicker was when I made the decision to place my pet up for adoption; the site tells me "You cant place a pet up until 7 days after creation" and I had to pay a 250 point fee. And the whole time, messages appear from your pet "Dont Leave Me." THAT is some serious manipulation, and really shouldn't be done. I understand the message in there, but in this case a bit misguided.

With regard to NeoPets, if I ever do get into them, I believe that the magazines, posters, the game cards, the figures / stuffed animals, or art or comic books based on them would probably be more my speed. And I have my own real "Neo" pet, thanks.

I understand about not wanting to put the batteries back in there Doc. I really felt as if the *fake* pet on the Neopets site was more demanding of my time then my real cat, Molly. We shouldn't have to worry about a...electronic pet or Yoda, and if you do, it's not worth your time. But, some people love this particular type of challenge.

Ever heard of multiple personalities, Darth Kroells? How else could I play a Vulcan doctor on the Republic?
