Psychological Assessment

- Had I not noticed the coloring of Calvin's eyes, I would have assumed he was human. In fact, when touching upon the subject of his native planet, Calvin seemed standoffish and uninterested in continuing the conversation. I later learned that he had been adopted by human parents, and was never raised on Betazed. However, his determination to not talk about Betazed cannot be completely explained away by his family situation.

- When the subject changed to other matters, Calvin opened up, revealing an ambitious, intelligent Starfleet officer. He shows aptitude for leadership (a common trait among older siblings, adopted or otherwise), though he doesn't always offer his opinions immediately. When he does give his views, they are thoroughly fleshed out. Though he may seem quiet at first when you ask for his opinion, this isn't the case...he is simply working out the problem in his head, rather then blurting out the first solution that comes to mind.

- Calvin is very capable of adapting to a new environment, making his transition to the academy very smooth. This is trait often found in children who were raised in space, as the conditions often change and transfers between starships and Federation bases are common. Soon after he arrived at the academy, Calvin was involved with the Holographic Programming Club, LOLS (League of Life Scientists, an organization offering research opportunities to younger officers), and was allowed to preform regularly as the pianist in an upper-classmen jazz ensemble - The Random Pattern.

- It is therefore my professional opinion that Calvin is of reasonable mental capacity to perform all the functions that a Starfleet officer is expected of.

- Lt. Leslie Matthews;

Human Resources, Starfleet Academy
