If you could remove/alter one thing from canon ...

70 posts in this topic

It can be a person, event, episode ... anything. I've seen a couple of episodes where something has happened that makes me wish I had just missed that episode. It can be from a movie, as well.

I think the event I really would like to take back would be Jadzia's death. I liked Ezri, but not nearly as much as I liked Jadzia. Anyone else?

The way Voyager ruined the Borg, definitely. Actually, I do really like the appearance of the Borg on Voyager, they were a good addition to the show. However, every time they appeared on Voyager, they seemed smaller and even less powerful than before, to the point that after "Endgame," they were severely weakened (for awhile, at least). The Borg are more suited to movie villains than series villains.

If not that, then Star Trek V. . . .

I would give Vulcans lightsabers.

Oh, yeah, and Star Trek V? Never happened.

I would have had Species 8472 conquer the entire galaxy, since I'm not even really a fan of Trek anymore. I just more or less sim here

Oh, and I would given all the Vulcan's a good bit of...Force Lightning.

I'd get rid of Nemesis! Good for nothing coaster movie, lol. That, and most of the first three seasons of Enterprise. Stupid B&B twins, changing history like that.

I would get rid of Nemesis too... Oh, you mean the movie.

But actually this thread gives me the opportunity to clean up some cannon. remember the TNG episode "The Neutral Zone" where Federation and Romulan outposts along the zone were disappearing? Evenyone assumed later that it was the Borg doing it.

There is no episode or movie where this is even hinted at.

Fans all seem to think the Borg destroyed these outposts but there is nothing one can point to in the shows or movies that indicates this. It just seems to be what a lot of people heard happened through a friend of a friend of a friend, etc. and has *become* canon, but it has no basis in established fact.

Actually, in "The Best of Both Worlds" Part 1, Enterprise goes to examine a destroyed colony. They make reference to the fact that the damage is identical to that done to the Neutral Zone outposts, and because they since had knowledge of the Borg, they connected the two incidents.

There are three things I would remove from canon:

a) Wesley turning into a superbeing and going off with the Traveller.

 Worf and Troi dating. ick Worf and Jadzia didn't bother me. Worf and Troi? ick.

c) The death of the NX-01 crewman in the Enterprise finale (name withheld in case anyone hasn't seen it yet.)

id have picard and crusher hook up... and i would love to see some sort of closure with wesly, oh and i would have done somthing witht the tasha yar dughter deal, where tashe didn;t dsie and came back on the enterprise as an aold woman, that would be cool (what is that seven now). oh and i would just completely erase enterprise form cannon, and not have data die, and i would have star trek 5 changed so that it wasn;t a vulcan or at least not sybock as the person serching for center. and nemesis is fine mostly, but id have the remans be prettier.

im done

::hugs Nemesis:: :lol:

::Sighs and pulls her away:: You were coming along so well too...

I wouldn't get rid of Wes, I'd have gotten rid of the bad writing that ruined his character. I espically like how he asscended (for a better lack of a word, been watching to much 'Gate) yet he somehow made Riker's and Troi's wedding.

"Hey mom, I just came back from a higher plain of existance for punch and cake, and maybe I bridesmaid too!"

Oh, I'd also have gotten rid of the crappy makeup for the first generation of Borg. They look like Goth's with metal implants now...

Oh, Nem too. :P

I'd get rid of all the Romulan brow ridges and bowl cuts, so they were a more attractive race. TOS Romulans were pretty, smooth browed. I don't accept the fact that they simply evolved bumpy heads. What ... did they have a virus outbreak like the Klingons? Lame!

I much prefer my angry Vanessa Williams Romulan.

Oh yes, get rid of the ugly new Romulan ridges! Bad move.

I'd have kept Number One in TOS. I loved her.

The Enterprise 1701 would have been less submarine-decorated, and a little more livable. Kirk really only had one hobby. There was nothing else to do.

I'd have kept Pulaski and left the Crushers off at acting school.

The Prophets would have never existed. NEVer.

Odo would have been more normal-looking. I mean, come on, he can replicate ANYthing except a face? Duh.

Similarly, Data would have made himself some Human-pigmented skin and eyeballs. How hard would that have been? Duh.

Yeah, Troi and Worf was dumb. So was Chakotay and Seven. I'd have let the poor Doc have a fling with Seven (I loved their work together) instead.

Yep, Wesley-superbeing was weird. So was Kes-superevolved.

I would have cast Enterprise differently, as well as not messed up canon quite so much.

For many of you who know me this will come as no shock.....death to the miniskirt!!!! Really how are the ladies gonna be good officers when they are worried about flashing a cheek every now and then. And I was watching TOS the other day and there was a girl on the bridge passing out cups (coffee I assume) What the? Anyway if the future is so awesome then why are women taking steps backwards.

The Temporal Cold War. It's canon since they went on about it in Enterprise, but it simply doesn't make sense. It shouldn't have happened because it was never mentioned in any other series.

::laughs: I was waiting for that to come up. It's only fair to have men wear these too. But seriously I was not really sorry when they got rid of them. It looks rediculous.

And I have to agree that Troi and Worf dating...just doesn't seem right to me.

God, if you ever need to see a guy in a very revealing, semi-homoerotic clothing, go no further then Star Trek...

What was it that the people were wearing, on that eppisode where Wesley gets sentenced to death for falling in that garden thing? I know I was chearing when I saw the women, but then one of the guys came out...

::shudders::
