Bus rides

1. It's fun to observe strange people because it gives you a feeling of being halfway normal.

And here I always thought it was because we're purists, are working on our own strangeness, and learn from the mistakes/advancements of others strangeness.

Ah well, I only ride the NYC busses, and though it doesn't make for good stories, they're actually quite pleasant since 9-11. The drivers are helpful, the passengers are polite - everyone is nice. Though I had to smile last month when a trucker blocked my bus with his truck so he could get out and have a shouting fight with the bus driver. The bus driver didn't care, and I got a good show along with a nice feeling that NYC has truely started to recover. :)

good times, good times...at least you dont have to walk the 82 steps without a rest in-between. (it was 82, right?)

i have a kinda similar story with the monorail at Disney... as you can guess, we get stuck. the red monorail lost its air compressor, which they need to keep tire pressure up, brakes, door, A/C, etc. etc, so disney decides to stop all monorail traffic to get it back to maintenance. yippy for us, stuck for 35 minutes! with creepy people sitting across from us, of course! this was....last year, i believe.

::refrains from retelling light-rail/bus experience from a few days ago....::

Something like that happened to me too when I went to Disney World. It wasn't the monorail, but some other train ride. Mickey Mouse's Land Express, or something that that.. this was ages ago.. but the ride broke down on us, and the driver entertained us over the comm with some songs. Fun stuff.. lol.

haha SOOO many bus stories... like the guy that started coming on to me one time... yeah.. eww

but my alltime favourite is...

a couple of my friends from the outskirts-ish-ness of town (their particular place called Lively)... and we were sitting there, and someone said LIVELY kind of loud...

and this really wierd lady by us turned to the girl who said it (Sara) and was like, "You live in LIVELY?!"

and Sara was like, "Yeah..."

Lady: "Do they have any STORES in LIVELY?"

Sara: "::laughs:: Yes, lots of stores."

Lady: "Are there any FLOWER SHOPS in LIVELY?"

Sara: "I... I think so."

Lady: "What is the name of this flower shop?"

Sara: "I don't know."

Lady: "Oh... that's a shame... I LOVE flower shops..."

And then we pretended it was our stop, when it wasn't, and walked the rest of the way.

Oh yes, I have a bus story.

Just got back from Jamaica today. The bus ride from the airport to the resort? New York and New Jersey drivers have NOthing on some Jamaican drivers. ^_^

We were riding in a little Toyota type of shuttle bus. And omg, it was insane. Passing when there WAS no passing, swerving, speeding, goats standing on the side of the road, people walking in front, or walking on the side of the road or the middle of the road. The driver beeped every five minutes. Other cars coming RIGHT at us, and then quickly swerving back into their lane. Add all this to the fact that I get motion sickness.

Ack!!

PS: But the trip went well. :P
