lol Kicking, screaming and things like that come to mind.

I just bought a new game the other day. When I tried to install it the program froze at 95%. It does that every time I try. I also tried to install it manually...nothing works. I gave it to my brother to see whether it works on his (actually my) computer and voilà...no problem at all. Now he's happy he's got a new game. At least the money wasn't wasted altogether.

Back in college (few years ago). Last week of finals. Stressed. Really Big Term Paper due.

Halfway through, not saved (yes my bad), and our power just went Phhffftttt. I lost half the paper. Needless to say I was a mess. ;)

Now I ALWAYS save every like, five minutes.

Poor Kansas!!!

I know the feeling, too. The problem I have with term papers is that I start working on them preferably the night before they are due. I learned to always save files regularly and that lesson was a hard one...stayed up all night and I don't think I ever drank that much coffee before.

Probably the most frustrating one was when I first discovered this MS Word bug (not sure if it's still in the latest versions):

If a document includes a number of equations (and figures?), you get the error message that either the file is read-only (it isn't), or your disk is full, no matter how much space is left on the disk. It then offers that you can save the document with another name. It allows you to do that, and you go along working happily thinking you've just saved your document, albeit with a different name. The next time you try to save the document, you get the same error message. By this point, you start getting suspicious. So, you try to save and exit. It'll let you do that... as long as you give the document its third new name. Then, once you exit, you find that none of the new documents you saved exist.

I got this one the first time while working on my honors thesis for my undergrad degree.

I later learned that you can solve it by saving the document on another disk drive. I don't have the problem anymore, because I don't use MS Word.

Well back in the day befor I learned about the wonders of Technology I had to do thing by hand. Well I had to make B-Day invites for my baby brother. I made one wasn't enough color. Had to start over. Second one to small. Third one not enough little colorful pictures. I had to go back 8 or 9 times because my mother hadn't heard that the store can also make little pretty invites infact they just might be better at it then me. I felt like strangling something.

haha ... frustrating? I think this counts.. haha hah.. hah... o.o

Last year, for English, we had to put together a poetry anthology with twenty of our favourite poems and such, and than analyze them and such and prepare an entire presentation about these poems to show to the class. WELL... I had just finished mine... except for ONE SENTENCE... and... to figure out what to put, I had to get a book from the other side of the classroom.

Now, this is a laptop class, so, I lock my computer so no one can f--SCREW with my anthology, and I shut the lid. I go over and get the book. I come back to my seat with the book, and open my computer lid to find a black screen with no lights. O.O;;

Then I notice the battery had been removed from the computer and was sitting beside it. It turns out the kid sitting next to me wanted to hack my password so he could get in and play around with my work. When he couldn't get it, he thought he'd rip the battery out to try and bypass the lockout. Little did he realize, he'd still have to enter a password anyway to log in... so when he realized that, he gave up.

I hadn't once saved that 20 page anthology because I'm a big fan of Hibernation... so .. POOF gone... ::murder:: Yeah

*bangs the drums and cymbals*

ba dum dum tsssssh

Seiben will be here all week! :P

Seriously, though, I have to totally agree here...all my cringeworthy technical moments had to do with the 6 months I had Win Me on my computer. Yeesh. I lost a whole website design template one time, that had taken at least 4 or 5 hours of painstaking graphic manipulation to achieve, because of that stupid OS.

Hey you're a good drummer I want you for my band.

Guess I'm lucky I went straight from Windows 95 to XP. (::sighs at the thought of his old computer with a HD that needed reformatting at least once a week::

So this is before I used to compulsively back my work ...

I was taking an into to non-fiction class, and we were assigned 30 page papers. Since we had to workshop them, I volunteered to go first, and therefore had to give up doing a lot of things in order to really get it done (I missed my college's homecoming and everything).

So it's Sunday evening, around 6, and I'm finishing up the last page. I had been saving it repeatedly. I go to save it again, and I get an error, and it gives me the option of retrying or cancelling. I retried, and it didn't work so I chose cancel. The entire program shut down. I started it back up, but my entire document was gone. 30 pages!

I actually cried; I couldn't help it.

Since then I actually print out hard copies, and email my paper to myself and someone else continually. I'm so paranoid now!

Well I would think you cried...30 pages ?!?! Your stressed out anyway trying to get done, do everything right and then that happens.

I was a mess when I lost my paper. I let out a combination yelp, scream, sob type of thing which caused my then cat to run for the hills. I called my Mom at work, frantic, and she got the resident computer expert on the phone to help me. Nada - the paper was lost and no where in hard drive. My cat came back and offered some purring support. You know it's bad when your cat knows something went wrong.

Ah, the joy of computer paranoia. And yet we still use 'em. ;)

Oh God! That must have sucked! Man I'm sorry to hear that. :P But I feel your pain. One time, I was writing this huge log for one of my sims here (Don't remember which one.. I think either Republic or Arcadia.. or maybe Talon).. I was almost done writing it, which took me about three or four hours when my computer crashed and I had to reboot. I lost the whole log, and I had to start all over again. :) Actually, now that I remember, that happened to me more than once. Now, if I plan on writing any huge logs for future sims I do so on Word. God bless Auto-Recovery. ;)
