A whine about sim times

hello! resident irritant images here!

I live on the opposite side of THE PLANET from the U.S (Hong Kong, come visit us so what if pnuemonia is spreading like wildfire!) and i love stsf, the good news is that the time most sims come on here is nicely placed at around 11 am the day after which is cool. The bad news is that i actually DO have a life, (okay i don't) and actually have to do stuff during the working weekdays. I was just wondering if anyone else out there suffers a similar time zone problem and would like to try to hug and kiss the gm's till one of them decides it would be a good plan to create more sims on friday and saturday so as to distract us long enough so they can call the cops and charge us with harrasment....that or we could just ask. By the way this is not a request to the Gm's for a new sim, i would never dare try to insult them! this is just me trying to see if anyone has the same problem as...me. anywho that was my whine.

images whiner extraordinaire

We have a couple of GMs finishing up training and such....  we'll see what their schedule looks like.  We've recently added a Thursday academy....  so I would expect to start eventually start seeing more weekend SIMs as we start plugging more holes.  :D

It's a slow process....  but we're growing!!  Compare our original schedule with what we have now, and you'll see a definate growth.  But at the same time...  I can certainly understand that being on the other side of the world can be a somewhat of an annoyance when trying to attend our games.  While most of us are winding up our days and preparing to relax a bit, ya'll are just starting out.

So eventually someday, hopefully....  ya'll start seeing more sims making their way onto the schedule.  It just takes a little time, and a couple bold/adventurous GMs who feel they have a few weekends they can be spared an hour from.  lol

The only problem with Friday and Saturday academy sims is exactly that; it is on a Friday and a Saturday. Many GMs actually do have lives, and can't be here every Friday due to other circumstances (whether going to the movies, hanging with friends, watching TV, etc.) Friday and Saturday nights are the best time for many people to leave the house and go somewhere.  This also means that many cadets and graduates won't come to the Friday and Saturday sims, because they have other things to be doing. New movies tend to come out on Fridays, and it is just a good night to hang with friends, because most people don't have to get up early the next morning. That is one of the problems that I have with Aegis, and an even bigger problem on an out-of-STSF sim that I have on Sundays.

That is the basic problem with having academy sims on Fridays and Saturdays. It's just for many people, the only days they have lives are on weekends.

My 1.2 cents..... the other .8 cents will come at a later time.

That is one thing many of STSF's management has seen over the various years we've done RPGs.  Friday and Saturday are typically the slowest days for traffic to the site.

In fact, as I look over STSF's web traffic, Friday is the usually the lowest day of traffic we have.  BUT... even though it might be a slower day, that does not mean there could not be a sucessful game that could take place on those nights.  Most certainly it has the possibility of doing do.  We just have to get to a point where we have the staff to do that, and that we have the member base to draw on that might be able to utilize it.

I would rather see us with 4-5 well attended sims that have many players all having fun than 15-20 sims with one to two players each.  And that's something that I know that is how the rest of the GM Council feels as well.  We're always looking to expand...  but we won't do it if it would jeopardize the quality of the games.

So to sum it all up...  lol...  we'll see.  :D  Lets try and get to a point where we have the staff to expand to those days.  And then we'll see how games on those nights are recieved.  Then we can take it from there.

It gets worse....we have "kids" that have lives....which mean we get to play "mom's/dad's taxi, coach and scout leader"!!

Sometimes after work, basketball, baseball, swimming, bowling, choir and scouts, ect.....they'll get offline, and grant me a few moments on the computer while they are awake. Besides that..it's normally after they go to sleep! LOL

Well now, there are always people who don't have "normal" schedules, and as we build our ranks, there's no reason we can't add non-standard time sims.  STSF *is* growing.  :D

Where do all those lost socks go, anyway?  And don't tell me the heat and spin of the dryer creates a rip in the space-time continum, because then I would be finding socks I haven't even bought yet!

Ah, the sock discussion... I'm always reminded of a little monolouge skit I saw in sixth grade... something about going to the laudromat with 6 pairs of socks, leaving with 4.5... going with four.... the two... one... and finally pulling out, instead of that blasted lone sock, a pair of long underwear and a note reading "Next time, more socks!"  I wish I knew who wrote the thing so I could find the script...

Making day-time sims seems like too much work.

Let's just all pitch in and send Boost the money to move to America.

Hey there,

Well I wouldn't say that. It's no more/less difficult than the creation of an evening advanced sim. Same factors come into play.

I wouldn't rule it out of the realm of possibility. :D

Hmm, let's see... I can spare 37 cents.

I'd host a daytime sim if I could.  The community seems to be gaining a strong international following (hey, it's Trek) and it's a shame we can't do anything to accommodate some of it.  :D But as Huff says, we'll get new GMs who will be able to blow up ships and kill cadets during the early US hours.

OR we could pitch in and save up enough money to send everyone to Hong Kong! Any takers?...
