The Titan, Looking for info on the Titan vessel

Not much canon information is known about it; I don't think it was ever even shown on screen. Here is a link to more possible sources.

Could always try sites like EAS or DITL.org.. or just Google for them.. ::shrugs::

Star Trek: Communicator's latest issue has a few things about the new book series, including a look at the crew.

The senior staff shapes up quite nicely:

CO: Riket, of Course

XO: Christine Vale (She's in the A Time to... series as Worf's Sucessor)

CNS: Mrs. Riker of Course

CSEC/2X0: Mr. Tuvok (I was actually suprised by this one...But he provides a veteran feel)

You'll have to read the books or the magazine for the rest...I don't remember those.

I do know that it is not a Titan-class ship, it is a Luna-class ship. Apparently, the fans are going to create the ship. If Frakes likes it enough, we might see a movie about the Titan that he would direct...Because the two TNG movies that he directed were more sucessful than the others...

Hmm...Now that I think about it...I wanna say Commander Shelby was part of the crew...O well...I'll go home and see...

Class History: The Titan-Class Starship, is the single largest multi-mission Starship ever constructed. It's size and design as a Dreadnought is to counter the Dominion Dreadnoughts. It incorporates shipwide holo-emitters and is the second to enable sub-space hologramatic link ups. Meaning, you can talk to someone from Earth in your room as if they are really there .

The ship has 4 Shuttlebays, all able to hold 18 support craft each. Its weaponry systems consist of the most advanced Phasers and Torpedo systems available. The ship supports a crew of 2,200 people, with a maximum of nine thousand . A Titan class' service life is expected to last 120 years needing (if unaffected by damage) only 6 refits during that time making it the longest serving starship in history and also the longest without refit.

The designs for the Titan Class had been laying around Starfleet's design bureau as an alternate take on the Sovereign-Class. When the first indications of tensions with the Dominion began to show, the Class resumed production immediately, although massive engineering setbacks led to the Titan's completing construction not until the beginning of 2379, shortly after the "Shinzon Incident."

The Titan Class Starship project was an endeavor which started in idle theorization and ended in a chaotic rush for completion. When the delightfully vague memo from Starfleet Command proposing the project arrived at the ASDB division of the Utopia Planitia Yards facility, not much notice was taken. The memo was classified as low priority, and required only mainly theoretical work to be done on a possible design for the next, say, twenty years or so.

The Titan Class was planned to be the next great class of starship, after the Galaxy Class and the developing Sovereign Class had served their day in the limelight. The Galaxy Class starship, just completed by Utopia, was projected at the time to serve as the main class of starship for at least the next twenty years, with the Sovereign class planned to supercede that. In fact, a design team was not even assembled for the Titan, and the 'Theoretical Research' of the project was relegated to technical staff being briefed to doodle in their spare time if they could. There was more time dedicated in those first few months to getting the Project banner right than to actual research.

And so the ominous "Titan" project, as well as a few other minor starship projects relegated to the same priority, dwindled on - for the next couple of years, that is. Starfleet's luck started to change for the worst around the beginning of 2365. The advent of contact being made by the starship Enterprise with a vehemently domineering hive-like race known as the Borg furrowed the brows of a few prominent Starfleet Admirals, including Admiral JP Hanson.

The ship which had encountered the singular Borg vessel was severely damaged by the encounter - and that ship was of the Galaxy Class. Starfleet knew they would be in serious trouble if not even the strongest of their ships would be able to defend itself in the event that the Borg incurred itself on the Federation and signs pointed to that event becoming a reality in at least the next ten years. Accordingly, Hanson and others brought forward the design schedule of many research projects which would form almost a new breed of starship - the most notable of these being the Defiant Class. However the Titan Project received orders only to formalize its research more and the research phase schedule was cut back to ten years. The Titan Class seemed just too big a task to undertake at the time. Yet a design team had now been formed, and theoretical models were surprisingly drawn up within the next year.

The Borg caught the Federation terrifyingly off guard in late 2366. Starfleet's last stand at the Wolf system resulted in devastating casualties. The loss of 11,000 personnel, not to mention the destruction of 39 of the Fleet's best starships, literally crippled and numbed the Federation. The painful but necessary task of repopulating the fleet and redeploying what resources they still had got bitterly underway. Starfleet resources had to be spread thin across the Federation and it's outer colonies, some sectors of which had to be left totally devoid of Fleet assistance. Starship fabrication was not fairing well either.

Of the twenty starship designs brought out of storage, four were deemed to have a chance of being space worthy within the next ten months - and one of these starship frames had not even been conceived for further production - the Bradbury. Research phases of starship classes such as the Sovereign, Kelvin, and Jupiter were hurriedly completed by the middle of 2367, and the misfortune-laden production process was begun. The spaceframe building of the Sovereign Class was also hurried along. The Titan Class was shocked into top priority by Starfleet, and much to Utopia Planitia's objections, the first space worthy vehicle was ordered to be made ready by 2377.

Chaos ruled for the next six years in the newly designated Titan Class division. Technicians painstakingly tried to feed data into the computer from notes they had scribbled a year before. The four theoretical models that had been previously completed had been left in a static state once the computer had deemed them theoretically capable of warp flight - once real life technology caught up in about twenty years. Major overhaulings were made, and after much testing and revamping, the four possible designs for the Titan Class was submitted to Starfleet in record time.

Construction on the Titan herself began in 2375, as the Dominion War was drawing to a close. Multiple delays, problems with the EPS conduit layouts, and other situations delayed commissioning of the Titan until 2379, when she launched under the command of Captain William T. Riker. The Titan departed for her shakedown cruise as the flagship of a ten-ship convoy headed to Romulus to begin the negotiation of a formalized alliance.

Munro...The Titan's not a Titan Class ship...Miranda has it as one because people expected it to be the first in it's class...But according to the Books and everyone with Star Trek, the Titan is going to be a Luna Class Starship

Dr. Smith is right, read what he wrote if you want a true inside scoop on the Titan...

It is to be called a Luna class ship and the FANS...US are to send in our sketches and designs we'd like to see for the ship.

However, if Commander Shelby is in this new Book Series I can't think of any other place for her but XO, and you've clearly stated she doesn't hold that spot...

So I'm anxious to see the full crew roster and what WE come up with for the ship's design.

I know Alyssa Ogawa is the chief nurse and there is someone who was on DS9, but I can't remember her name. She wears a gravity suit.

Yeah...I found the same roster Online...

Ogawa is Chief Nurse, not CMO...which is suprising to me...She also brings her son along.

I think it's Melora Pel or something like that that wears a gravity suit...

Just offering more advice

Senor Smith

Oh...and Shelby's not part of the crew...But has anyone read the book...It's either in the A Time to... series or the Double Helix series where Shelby's on as acting XO and she and Riker have some heated fueds...They're great...some of the things he says.

I read somewhere that it's a Galaxy class ship. I'm not sure, but I think in Nemesis Riker says it's a Galaxy class ship, but "she's not the Enterprise.

The Luna class has not yet been designed. they are going to show it on the next book's cover, and are currently running a contest to see which design from a group sent in by fans will portray the Luna Class.
