"Drowning in Deep Thoughts"

"Drowning in Deep Thoughts" - Midshipman Mithraia Coeur, MD

Stardate 053105

It seemed to take forever to Mia to sort through the medical supplies now inhabiting the cargo bay of the USS Agincourt. But she kept focused on her work, despite the never wavering eyes of the security staff watching her every move. She could sense the harshness behind some of their looks and could only imagine it was Tethra's unusual people skills that had ignited the feelings. Though, it seemed silly to her to be questioning the Minervan's social attributes .. when she, herself, could barely handle being in social situations as it was. As she quietly finished up, she nodded to the security guy as she headed towards the door, "I'm finished here .. I .. I'm going to be heading back to Sickbay."

The security guy just nodded slightly and didn't make a sound. Mia uncomfortably nodded back and walked past him, leaving the cargo bay and it's suffocating clutter of supplies. She took a moment to gain her bearings and remembered where the lift was, walking over to it briskly. A few crew members passed her, all but ignoring her really. She always tended to blend into the background .. despite her vibrant red hair. Even that wasn't enough to get noticed. As she entered the lift and exhaled a breath of relief as it closed before someone else could enter it and take the ride with her .. she leaned against it's wall and loosened up for a second. She hated the solitude, yet she felt more at ease by herself. There was no pressure to impress anyone, no pressure to talk about things she didn't want to, no need to hide anything. By herself .. she could just BE herself.

"Excuse me, Midshipman."

Mia blinked her eyes, realizing she had plummeted deep into thought. The lift had stopped, and at the door was a Lieutenant, standing patiently with his arms crossed. Mia stood up quickly and saluted, "I.. sir, .. excuse me. I'm.. I'm sorry. I was .. I was just.." she stuttered terribly. She felt on the spot and was almost crumbling before his eyes. He shook his head and stepped aside to let her off the lift. She walked past and turned around to face him.

"It's not problem, Midshipman.. but perhaps your quarters are a better place for you to daydream than the turbolift?" He smirked slightly, and stepped into the lift, "Deck 7."

"Of course .. I mean, sorry.. yes, you .. you are right..." she watched him smirk again as the doors closed. Mia lifted her hand to her forehead, which was now damp with sweat and sighed, "You have to stop this mind wandering thing, Mia. It's going to be the death of your career."

She turned and kept walking down the corridor to Sickbay and entered it. She heard a soft beep from a console and she walked over. It was a communique for Medical about a disease plaguing a colony. Mia sat down and looked over the small bits of data they had. This was something she could focus on. It was important. She would help people and keep her head out of the clouds. She started research and was hoping she'd have a better understanding of everything by the time they reached the colony. And there would be no more deep thoughts.

Deep thoughts were okay .. as long as you didn't drown in them. It was something she had to work on.
