What to do?

Am I required to be here every time (since my work schedule may conflict with the game)? What should I do if I can't make a game?

I've always wanted to be the first one to offer some good advice...

Locutus, as a cadet, you should check the schedule on the website, and then attend as many as you can, so that you can learn just what it takes to be on an advanced sim.

Then, once you graduate from the academy, you can pick an advanced sim (or two) , and attend that sim weekly.

So, I guess your answer would be...No, you don't have to attend EVERY SIM.

Mr. Smith

P.S.: Be sure to check out some advanced sims, such as Reaent on Thursdays, to observe what goes on in the sims.

There aren't many people who show up to every academy sim, and there's certainly no requirement to show up to all of them. Dr. Smith got it right - check the schedule and see which academies you can come to, then show up a few minutes early and request a post. Before you come, you should refresh your memory of our simming conventions and the roles of each post by checking out our Help sections.

When it comes time to graduate, you should choose an advanced sim that you can attend regularly. If you miss a game occasionally, that's OK. Just inform your advanced sim's GM team that you won't be in, in advance whenever possible.

Hope to see you around in academies.

You don't have to attend every single Academy, just show up when you can! Believe me, it gets noticed. And in no time.. you'll be graduated.

Though, advanced simulations weigh attendance heavily. Be sure to choose one that you can make every week. However, you are allowed to miss one once in awhile as long as you give proper notice. (Or at least explain if it was an emergency after the fact!)

Good luck! Hope to see you in the stars! ^_^

Hi,

Welcome to STSF. :P

As stated earlier attedence to every academy is certainly not manditory (although us Acad GM's do like it when lots of people come :D )

So, ::loving the echo:: come when your schedule allows.

As for Advanced Games. Try to join a game that fits your schedule, but if you do have to miss for real life reasons, that's perfectly acceptable, just be sure to notify your GM team. Each GM team has different policies regarding attendence, just be sure to keep them up to date :)

Again, Welcome to STSF. Hope to see you around. ^_^

Okay, so the Academies take place in the chat rooms. I think it's always in the subroom "Holodeck" actually. You can follow the "Chat Room" link at the top of all the pages (look up! it's there!) or you can go directly to http://www.stsf.net/chatroom.php

which is what I do. Just make sure you go when there is an Academy scheduled (http://www.stsf.net/schedule.php). Sign in as Cdt_Locutus235 or whatever you would like to sign in as. Just make sure you put in the Cdt part. And make sure you join the proper subroom, which like I said before, is usually the Holodeck.

Moose is awesome, and this post helped me a lot before I started my first Academy. http://www.stsf.net/forums/index.php?showtopic=1850

My advanced sim is on tonight (the Arcadia) so feel free to stop by and watch. Just make sure not to interrupt any of the advanced sims while they are in progress. Hope to see you around!

Hope I haven't confused you even more ...

Just make sure you have the latest version of Java on your machine, so you actually get in, eh?

Welcome to STSF!

The people here are great, and I'm sure that whatever advanced sim you would eventually join, they would understand about the work schedule. As long as you give them notice when you need to miss, it should be fine.

Hope to see you around the academies!

Just as everybody has said. In the Academy, you don't have to be at every one but when you get to your advance sim, just let them know when you are going to miss one or how many you are going to miss. We all still have a life....at lest some of us. ;)
