Has anyone read/bought this?

They had to write a whole book?

Surviving in Starfleet is easy:

Don't wear red (TOS) | yellow (TNG).

Never walk out of camera range.

If you're beaming down with the captain, first officer and lots of crew regulars, you're doomed.

And, bonus, for captains: If the Enterprise is behind you, make sure you're not the first ship on scene.

This is true.

Kestra - I never picked it up from my local bookstore, but I do remember flipping through it and it did look pretty fun.

It was ok... the planetary reentry was kind of interesting, but in this book they really go into many mind-numbingly complex descriptions and instructions.

I own it, and I've actually dug it out and used some of its suggestions in Academies. ;)

Dang, thats one book I didnt notice on the local book store shelf. I'll have to look for it next time! I usually like getting those specialty type books (like the Ferengi rules of aquisitions, etc -got both editions...) ;)

Speaking of which, anyone ever saw or bought the official Star Trek Recipe Book? I saw it once, didnt have the cash for it at the time though :P . Had actual recipes to make stuff like Romulan Ale or the various quisine featured on the shows.

I have a copy of the Rules of Acquisition also! I got it the first time we went to the Experience in Vegas. I've seen the cookbook, but only online. I think it's on Amazon (I'm addicted to Amazon.com). I was eyeing it because we did this random Star Trek murder mystery--which was totally ridiculous and I wanted to make a dinner that at least bore some resemblance to the cuisine of the Trek universe. I didn't end up getting it because the recipes didn't seem very interesting. You can look at a page or two here: http://www.amazon.com/gp/reader/0671000225...001#reader-page

I did end up getting the Survival Guide. I couldn't resist. It's good, in a really funny sort of way. I'd tell you it's not practical but that should be fairly obvious. There's a trick or two I could use as an engineer in the sims though. I'm also having fun trying to figure out which episode each section is referring to. Some are more obvious than others.

Ahh yes! That be the book Kestra!

I'll have to write both of them down so I remember next time I go to the book store. And your right, if all else fails- order it from amazon.
