"Short Climb" - 50303.19

Lieutenant Junior Grade Garnoopy

Personal Log Stardate 50303.19

“Short Climb”

Garnoopy moved up the ladder, and arrived at the hatch to the next deck. Power was offline, and the hatch did not open like it normally should have. Reaching up, after a moment of grunting and pulling, the hatch slid apart, revealing the next deck. Garnoopy continued climbing.

The away teams destination was the auxiliary computers of the ship. It looked as though all connection to the computers and normal operating panels had been severed, so it was time to go to the source.

An EPS conduit they had found that had power running through it was useless. If they had attempted to tap into it to get a console in engineering working, they would have blown out the deck from the power surge, not to mention themselves. Though the damage it would have caused might not have been noticed considering the rest of the ship.

The hatch to the next deck was also closed, like the one before. Garnoopy once again reached up, and pulled the hatch open, letting out another loud Klingon grunt, then proceeded upwards.

The temperature had gone up in the Jeffries tubes, Garnoopy was not bothered by this, it was conferrable to have the warm weather, however, it was a question as to where the heat was being generated from. With no power, environmental controls couldn’t be malfunctioning, and it should have gotten colder, not warmer.

Below him, Lieutenant McLean and Lieutenant Kroells followed; they apparently were more uncomfterable by the heat based on their actions.

The next hatch to the deck they needed to be on was jammed. Garnoopy grunted, growled, and pulled with his strength, and managed to open it slightly. A colorful Klingon swear came from his mouth, and his fist was slammed against the hatch, loosing it slightly. Another grunt came from him, and he pulled the hatch apart.

Stepping onto the deck, Garnoopy made a visual sweep with his phaser rifle, waiting for McLean and Kroells to arrive. McLean stepped onto the deck, looking slightly out of breath, and was followed by Kroells.

Moving forward, they headed off to find the computer backup systems, to perhaps find some answers.
