Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith

Ok...I won't spoil it for you folks that don't do the opening night thing....

Just let me say this....in an interview with Larry King, Lucas said he realized he had made mistakes with the previous 2 movies, trying to soften them for families and kids, and that he was going to make this one a bit darker.

Granted, I would have liked even more dark, but I was satisfied iwth the final outcome of the movie, and enjoyed it very much. It also have my daughter crying alot, but hey, that happens.

He kept the set styles similar to previous movies to allow for nice tie ins, and you knew some things would be predictable, but come on, we all know how it ended.

So...get a ticket and go, it was enjoyable. If you have seen it, then go see it again.

I'm going to see it at 9:50 tonight, can't wait, got my ticket in my pocket. Funny thing is I have a huge presentation to do in an English class, then right after I'm leaving and going directly to the theatre, don't know how I'm gonna stay focused and the time winds down.

I went and saw it with a group of friends at midnight and loved it. I read the book and there were parts that they cut out that I wish they hadn't, but what can you do. I think it was a nice wrap up to the series and with out a doubt the best of the first three.

As the resident movie geek, we all of course know that I must chime in. :D

I was fortunate enough to catch a midnight show last night, and even though I am a disenchanted Star Wars fan, thanks to the last two episodes, I thought Episode III was pretty solid. Not great, mind you, but the best thing since The Empire Strikes Back (I just cannot stand the Ewoks in ROTJ).

My only beef was some of the dialogue and acting from the stars. They all seemed pretty stiff at times, and sounded as if they were reading their lines off of cue cards, rather then with some flare. We all know they have the chops to do it, but when Samuel "I will strike down upon thee" Jackson seems stiff... you know you have a problem.

The opening battle was pretty good, all though Palpatine seemed a little strange during some parts on the ship... I dunno why. Everything else was great. Ian McDiarmid, Ewan McGregor, and Yoda (Okay... the guys at ILM) were awesome. I loved McDiarmid slowly corrupting Anakin, and I felt a little pang in my gut when Anakin joined Darth Sidious, you could just feel the reason why he was doing it and you couldn't help but pity him, kudos to Hayden. And yes, I did fell a bit of nostalgia when Darth Vader/Anakin did the notorious Force choke on someone, and the person had the silly face and everything, it was great... just loved seeing that again, and it's sad that I'm a big enough geek to get excited about that ;). McGregor just channels Sir Alec Guinness and does a great job in the role. Yoda… well… he’s Yoda… come on! Enough said. ;)

The lightsaber fights kept me on the edge of my seat, even when some of the "You are so beautiful" bits bored me. The Anakin/Obi-Wan fight was awesome, and was one of the few things that surpassed my expectations; as was the other fight that was woven in there, but I won't say since I don't wanna ruin a really awesome part of the movie for some people.

I especially enjoyed John Williams’s compositions, even though he wasn't as loud and grandiose as he usually is. "Hero Falls" the music that you heard during the Anakin/Obi fight was great, they have a music video to it on Star Wars.com and I've been humming it all day.

All in all, it was a good movie, it could have been polished a bit if Lucas would have left all the dialogue to someone else… but well all of course know he wouldn’t do that. On a scale from 1 to 5 it gets a 3 ½ from me. So yes… go see it, if not you’ll be missing out the opportunity of a lifetime. ;)

(I just cannot stand the Ewoks in ROTJ).

Have to agree with you there.

Think about it. The last hour or so of Return of the Jedi had everything you could want in a Star Wars movie. Speeder bike chase scenes, a pitched ground battle, a pitched space battle, the iconistic clash between Luke and Vader, all happening at the same time.

Then they go and RUIN the whole thing by bringing in those fuzzy Ewoks who think C-3PO is a god! What the heck was Lucas thinking? It was good up to that point.

However, it could have been improved by:

* having Natalie Portman in the golden bikini instead (Yeah, I know, she wasn't born yet, but you can always dub it in now.)

* sticking with the original plot regarding Lando and the Millenium Falcon. Not many people know this, but when Han said he thought he would never see the Falcon again that was actually the way it was supposed to happen. Originally Lando was going to sacrifice himself and the Falcon by crashing into the still-operational shield and allowing some craft to fly through while the shield was repairing itself. Not sure if the original plot called for the Endor force to survive or not.

Saw it and loved it, no complaints whatsoever. After the mediocre first two, the third one is a gift. I just saw it last night and I'm going to see it again in the hour. I even tried to Force-Persuade a kid to give me his popcorn, he was a bit scared ;)

They did a great job with turning Anakin, everyone knew it was gonna happen but it was still good. I was actually disturbed at one point, and I'm sure anybody who has seen the movie knows which scene I'm talking about. He was actually pretty freaky. Only person's acting that I had a problem with was Nathalie Portman's, but it really didn't matter since I'm gonna marry her anyways ;)

Man, I'd have hated to see Lando die. He was always one of my favorites. I had something else to say, but fear of modding has made me download in my pants. ;)

Hey there,

After seeing it yesterday evening...my thoughts are this. Outstanding.

I won't get into any details, but I believe many (myself included) came away thinking better of Vader and worse of the Emperor himself. Anakin's motives were good ones...they were simply twisted. This film, unlike the others, really did...for me anyway...reshape how the last three flow. I simply won't see Vader in the same light. There's something to be said for being able to do that.

I also agree that this film needed the PG-13 rating it had due to scenes I think all know I'm referring to. It was nice to see all of the character's involved, though I think the "order sixty-six" was executed a little too easily. But that's just me so...

I know Lucas has supposedly authorized a live action television series for the franchise, taking place between Episode III and Episode IV (which is about twenty years, no?) I am upset that, as he had originally designed, there won't be the final three episodes. I really think there could be some amazing stories about the rebuilding of the Republic after decades of Empiral rule.

I think I'm either gonna see if Sunday or Monday (which is Victoria Day here in Canada). I was too lazy and I wanted to avoid the major crowds on opening day. ;)

The Younglings. That's all I have to say.

All I have to say about "The Younglings" is - my jaw dropped during that one particular scene. ;)

For those of you that haven't seen it - worth checking out, and it doesn't matter that we all know what happens anyway. I had a good time and was really entertained by the flick.

Go see it, have a good time, and may the Force be with you.

LOVED IT!

Of the three "Generation X" Star Wars movies, I enjoyed this one the best. The plot was obviously deeper and the lines were generally more solid. I finally got to see a decent performance out of Anakin, which helped the whole movie. Obi's performance wasn't as solid as it has been, but hey, the net gain was positive.

Regarding the other characters, I think Lucas did a good job giving them some life. My biggest gripe was the transition of Anakin from Jedi to Sith Lord within a twn minute span. One minute he's saving his wife, the next minute he's talking about how great it would be to rule the galaxy.

My biggest relief was that Lucas finally got rid of the constant comic relief that seemed to plague the previous two movies. Jar Jar just wasn't funny and even less of C-3PO was positive. R2's action hero abilities were a little dramatic, but hey, who hates R2? I love humor and I love comic relief, but in the previous two movies, it was way over the top.

Granted, I'm not really Star Wars guy...I never really got into it, though I've seen all of the movies. Take my analysis with a grain of salt. As a "casual fan," however, I would say that this movie is certainly worth seeing, but not more than once.

All I have to say about "The Younglings" is - my jaw dropped during that one particular scene. ;)

Most likely the most controversial scence in the whole movie, even if we dont see it actually happening, which, was also the implied thing in ATOC, when Anakin says he killed the Tuskan's, he killed them all. Women and Children alike. My friends all think it's sick that I wanted to see it.

I know a lot of people think that the scene was sick, and unnessicary, but I beg to differ, even from a non demented stand point. It truely shows just how far Anakin was willing to fall to save Padme. It's also the ultimate poetic irony. He is killing one of the thing's he's trying to save, his own child.

Secondly, to Fred: I have to agree.

I think the last three Episodes should show the creation of the New Republic, and the eventual peace treaty with the Imperial Remminant. Then, like I said before, we need to see the Yuuzhan Vong. We need to see Anakin Solo, and Mara Jade, we need to see Chewy die, and Han lose it. We need to see Coruscant razed to the ground, we need to see the 350 trillion people killed, we need to see the rebirth, and destruction of the Jedi.

There's just so much story that's been placed out in the EU, that I think Lucas needs to set a cannon, wether it's with a movie or not.

Well I just got back from seeing it. My thoughts:

* It was good to see R2D2 get *his* butt kicked for a change and actually make some mistakes.

* Even pregnant, Padme still looks sexy.

* An unanswered question: WHO THE HECK IS SIFO-DIAS?!?!?!?

* An unanswered question: WHO THE HECK IS SIFO-DIAS?!?!?!?

All that was said in epi 2 he was a jedi master and died

I think he might have been in the plot w/ the sith to gain power due to order 66 (being implanted in their training on the cloner planet) but thats my theory and I never really thought about that question anyway being it was like a back story to epi 2

Lucas said he's not doing anymore movies to add to the 2 trilogies. I think it would kinda ruin it anyways. Plus they already have lots of books past ROTJ, and are considered canon. So they would have to defy what George already read and approved.

Don't worry SW is not dead, we'll be getting 2 new TV series ;)
