hiya!

I'd say fresh meat here, but don't think Nerf would be a known species in the ST Galaxy Quadrant ;) (cringes in event of being taken to the holodecks for a medieval tar & feathering)

Tuned into STSF Laura's Academy session earlier tonight (Tuesday), and shortly after HOD Messner's IKC Qob/Lakota... as TJ_Observer mind you, just observing. Both sessions were enjoyable to watch. Definately makes me want to join in soon!

I've been roleplaying star wars d20 for the last few years at the SWRPGNetwork Holonet Forums, both co-running a game as well as playingin several (still do currently). I'm over at the mentioned forums by the same name, well, "Terras Jadeonar & Raven".

Up until this past weekend with the Finale of Enterprise imenent, I wasn't sure in which way i'd be able to get a decent weekly fix of startrek. ;) Sad to say this past weekend was definately a downer, and from browsing the ST message boards I found my way here :D

Suffice to say, my spirits were low over the weekend, and finding this site/game has risen them back to nominal levels of operation. I like the game scheduals presented - mid evening to later at night, and i'm in the Central TZ. Think I'll have to drop by the med-bay just to make sure though ;)

Last couple nights I've already read the STSF's general gameplay guidelines, as well as ALL of Moose's beginner's guide threads. Even came across the 7 technical vocabulary lingo threads. I'll gve them a second read just to be sure I havn't missed anything. Even managed to read through a few session/mission logs. Though I havn't come across any personal written log types.

I'll have to do a bit of thinking and come up with a character concept which is something of a fundamental I have for any character I've made for my SW games. Mainly name, species, bio/background. I really enjoy roleplaying, and starting with a basic concept always helps me to know the character better as well as get into character. When it comes to SW D20, the concept is also what I use to build the stats sheets from.

So, apologies for the lengthly intro post. Typing 'mini-novellas' are sometimes a habbit of mine. I don't think I'll have any problems writting 'after-mission' logs. Should be interesting how long or detailed my character bio will be. (love star trek, just never rpg'd it before or did much creative thinking with st material)

Well, having said all that I can think of for the moment, I'll definately tune into a few more sessions before I jump into the academy. I've just never had the luxry of rpg'ing outside of post-by-play games- meaning live session via tabletop or java/irc chat style. A few games and I think i'll get the hang of it!

Without further adieu, I think I best get exploring a little more!

- and thx for the warm invites from tonight's sessions :)

Thanks all. Thats the impressions i've been getting sofar ;)

Yep, for all the rpg experiance i've had, i'm a fresh green-blood for live games ;)

I'm slowly coming up with a character concept. I've somewhat a character concept in mind, just figuring out if i can manage to whip up an avatar of it :D

Trust me, they will break you, don't give up. ;)

On the other hand, if they will break you eventually, isn't it better to break on the first day and get it over with?

And ruin the drawn out fun of it? There's gotta be more than one way of getting broken down. The art of it is finding out which! (or being sprung upon one that's just toooo tempting to resist) ;)

j/k ;) Ehh, I guess we'll see which happens first!

I think the hardest part is getting a character whipped up, but there-in is half the fun too :)

Check, check and doubled checked! :D One more time definately wont hurt though :)

Welcome to STSF! The art of writing mini-novellas (aka turning two lines of idea into pages of text) can come in useful both in Trek and in life (especially if you're in school) ... just don't get too carried away- someone has to read it :-)

Hope to see you around in the academy.

Welcome cadet. Do watch out for those open airlocks. ::grins madly:: ;)

Have fun, hope to see you around the academy.

Open airlocks?!? Umm, there hasn't been any reported mishaps with the emergency structural integrity fields has there?

I'll have to read through some of those personal mission logs, and see how different or extrapolated the details are from the sessions ;)

Good news is, kinda I guess... working up both character bio and an avatar. Its one of those where ya start on something and it kinda changes little by little without your intention, taking on a life on its own. The character started as a "he" and already turned into a"she" , though i think it's looking alright sofar...

Hey, in a nut-shell, what time eras are the various games? I know the NX-05 is roughly Archer's time-frame... What about the other games? I've a pretty good idea for my char's bio, hadn't typed it up yet. There'd only probably be a few minor alterations depending on the era, which i'd need do once i complete the academy and assigned a duty roster. ;)

I think i'll be happy with the output of the character avatar though.

USS Hood - TOS time frame (Kira era)

RES Talon - Romulan sim

IKC Qob - Klingon/Federation sim (both Qob and Talon though set in TNG era)

USS Agincourt - Futuristic sim, set in 2397

USS Manticore (Nebula), Republic (Galaxy), Arcadia and Excalibur (Sovereign classes) and the Raeant (Ambassador) are all "Traditional" TNG type sims. Sky Harbour Aegis is a space station set in Ds-9/Voyager era.

Hope that helps.. ;)

Thanks a ton Seiben! ;) That really helps! In a short bit i'll put up a teaser of the avatar i'm working on, for i'm still trying to wrestle the program into a Gorn Headlock ;)

side note: I did see the easy sims2 avatar posts how-to thread. I'll try it if/when this program gets the best of me :D

Thx for the mints STSF GromVik! ;) Mmm, My favorite flavor to!

Welcome to STSF TJ ;)

Hope you have fun simming with us. Don't forget, the Redstar Nightclub is tonight in the Holodeck at 11pm EST. It's a cool place to relax and just have fun. ;) The Midnight Academy with Joe and Sovak is right after! :D

Thx for the invite! The sessions do look imensely fun, from observing a about a week's worth of back-to-back viewing.

I'll definately be here for tonight's academy, and for the lounge. I noticed the past 2 nights have been slightly vacant, probably due to SW3 premeir.

I think maybe tonight i'll finally even participate in the sessions. My character avatar will possibly be done too! I was thinking going tactical, as thats the outfit color i've got, but a click of a button, yellow can be swapped for red or blue ;)

Daaaannnnggg, cool looking avitars. What program are you using to make those?

You like huh? B)

Poser 6 ... Victoria 3.0 , vic3 ultra catsuit. some various hair styles... and a bunch of freebie made startrek goodies for it like the TNG textures for the catsuit, the startrek various species facial effect morps :D

Just really time consuming, theres hundreds of parameter adjustment dials. program crashed once before i could save and lost the one hair-do i styled - for the picture on the right side. been trying to recreate that exact 'do'.. Also gonna reduce the 'perkiness' a bit.

This is why i like doing the character concept & design before playing the character. ;)

Opinions, which do ya like more? long haired or the shorter hair? Working on 2 models, going to end up only using the one though.

I've yet to get a better 'pose' rather than standing there with arms stretched out :P

TJ-

I think I like the shorter hairstyle more. Maybe I'm just biased. You asked for the opinions, so I hope that helps!

i'm liking the shorthair one too. just bugging me to no end that i'm trying to re-do that exact hair-do before it crashed :P ;) ...

hundreds of dials, thousands of possibilities. Much akin to the Vulcan's proverb of infinate diversities, infinate probabilities B)

Yeah, dude.. Great job on the characters. In my opinion, I like the one on the right a little better but both are good. Only.. their breasts are a bit too low on their bodies. Heh. (::hopes he can avoid wrath from the GMS/anyone else::..)

Hmm, I thought that was just the camera angle... As for positioning, I can't really do a whole lot about it, save for maybe adjusting size and remozing perkiness (to an extent). I ought to do a full head-to-toe render, so the full pic can be seen.

note to self: save often. been fidling with the hair all day &night, still cant get the exact same hairstyle. dont know what i did differently the first time ;)
