The Fate of ENT....... IMPORTANT, all must read!

73 posts in this topic
how bout we just enjoy the last few episodes and hope somthing good comes out of this?

Something good will come out of the next episode, The whole season(except for an episode or 2) has been the best.

I think "In a Mirror Darkly" has been the most anticipated episode of the season....

I really hope it gets good ratings, but the way UPN is, they probably won't care anymore.

But the next episodes are suppose to be great, the only one I cannot guarantee is the finale. A lot do not like the idea of it, not only of it being the finale, but the story for it. It really pisses me off that Riker and Troi will have the last lines of the episode <_<

Wow. The Trek Report (link five posts back) has given "In a Mirror, Darkly, Part I" five out of five stars! Read the review, but be warned, it contains spoilers.

Yes I saw, I had a strong feeling they would.

What saddens me is that some say they are not a fan, and not watch the show to judge. Ok, remember that not all shows get off to a great start. Also remember that it takes some seasons to become good. I love DS9, but I never really thought it was good till season 4. It takes a bit for you to get used to the character.

Some have watched 2 episodes of ENT and continue to bash without watching the best of it. Sorry to bring that up again.

Now I will watch tonight's episode tonight, going into it saying "I'm going to enjoy this". But the bashers will go into it saying "Can't wait to see all the problems with this". It just annoys me when they bash every little detail, who cares if Archer went left not right? Now I haven't seen that yet, but that is what it feels like people are bashing.

Anyways, this episode tonight may possibly be my favourite ENT ep of all time <_< who knows, I'll just have to wait.

Star Trek might not exist as we know it (or at all) if TNG hadn't gone through those major changes for season 3. People waited out TNG, DS9, and Voyager, but they watch Enterprise a few times and hate it forever? Enterprise is no different from any other series; it just took a while to find its niche, and now it has been cancelled. TNG, DS9, and Voyager (I assume; I haven't seen much of it) were all given a chance. Enterprise was not, although again, the reason might be more than "the show stank". I think that it was due more to internal politics than anything.

Hey, at least we're no longer debating Trekies and Trekers. <_<

I personally was never fond of the idea that Enterprise was set pre-TOS and that made me not wish to watch it. However recently I have become very interested in it and have found that it's a great show with terriffic writers to make it exciting from week to week...Unfortunately many trekkies didn't realize this till it was too late.

But, if all their episodes could be as AWESOME as the one tonight "The Mirror Darkly" then I would gladly have watched this show even more. Sadly as many did I caught the end of this doomed series and am sad to be watching it fall apart. Atleast they're going out with a bang and not letting UPN have the pleasure of watching them go without a fight.

If it's at all possible I'll be wishing and hoping that this Franchise can once again climb to the top if not with Enterprise then a new show or new movies.

For those who were arguing over the Nielsons, here are a few more tidbits: at least two stations in large markets (DC and Boston) pre-empted the show for baseball. While not true for the whole TV season, it becomes questionable as to how many boxes that would've watched Enterprise watched something else.

Hey there,

I do agree...actually seeing a pre-refit Constitution Class starship? To see a completely rebuilt TOS bridge set in use? :)

<_< :D   ^_^ :P :D :D

WOO HOO! Yep, the Constitution in all its glory. Just saw Enterprise "In a Mirror, Darkly."

Now, TOS "Mirror, Mirror" is my total favorite episode out of ALL the series, so I prolly am a bit biased, but tonites ENT alternate universe offering was really well done.

(Off topic, sorry.)

I like to point that out also, many people get pre-empted by a baseball game, now that can easily take away a lot of viewers!

Yeah, well hey. Baseball is America's passtime. So ofcourse, baseball comes first. Especially in Beantown and the like. At least we don't have to worry about in Canada. <_<

Hey there,

Someone mentioned Stargate: SG-1. While I have been a die hard fan of the show, I have some very serious concerns about next season. While I am pleased to see an outstanding actor joining as a new male lead (same one from Farscape), Richard Dean Anderson really did act as the glue of the show. Season 8 will feature very little of him. In fact, I've heard a number of something like three episodes. There's a new individual becoming head of the SGC and it seems Hammond has fallen off the face of the planet next year.

I'm really concerned that SG-1 has...well...is starting to grasp at straws for the sake of remaining on TV. Stargate: Atlantis, whose second season I will regretfully miss most of, started off really slow. However, writing for the last half of the season really got me very interested. I think that would be the proper avenue for the show...but that's another discussion for another time. <_<

The reason Star Trek: Enterprise never had a chance of getting on Sci-Fi is the cost. Battlestar Galactica costs about one million dollars per episode to create. That figure almost caused Sci-Fi to back away from the project. For half a year there was serious concern they would not renew it because of the price tag. In turn, I heard a figure of something like one million people watch weekly.

On the other hand, Captain Archer was costing about one point five million per episode. Given the worst ratings projections I've heard, the average viewership was somewhere near two point five to three point five million. Yet, for some reason, it was considered a failure. I think a large part of this has to do with an interview that appeared on Sci-Fi Wire today, where Bakula talked about how some executives at Paramount may have decided during season two to cancel after four seasons. This, mixed with recent changes in leadership at Paramount, has caused all of the people in charge who cared about the show to leave.

In any event, the Sci-Fi Channel is presently producing three original and expensive original programs. To add a fourth would have been...a problem. Look at what happened to Farscape. Personally, I think if Stargate SG-1 had ended after Season 7 as a regular show...might have been a small chance. They just don't have the money to invest and likely don't think a move to cable would keep all of the viewers.

Actually, sci-fi channel had four new shows running at a time. If Paramount gave NBC the series, they might have to give up the entire franchise, so it would be in their best intrest just to scuttle the show and keep the franchise.

Once again, one of the most intriging episodes of the series was pushed back because of baseball. And sadly, the tv guide I read yesterday says that ENT will not be on friday and saturday, and I'm worried that if there is baseball on Sunday, I may be unable to see this episode until the summer (but then again, UPN may have scheduled a baseball game for that night).

Paramount won't give it to NBC...since Paramount is owned by Viacom...who conviently owns CBS <_<

Do any of you realise your hypocrity™? Do you not realise that by bashing about the bashers, you have become the bashers (and are equal to, or worse then they are(since they know that they are bashing, but you are too ignorant to realize your own actions))? Jeeze, your like that whole Alpha/Omega thing.

"You are Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last."

Oh, and if anyone knows why I suddenly started quoting stuff from Revelation, please tell me. It's starting to worry me.

You know what I meant, ENT bashers or TU bashers( which really are just people who don't support TU). But some people actually bash TU, I mean say a lot of stuff that I would call extreme critisizm

No, I don't understand what you meant. Your definition of a TU basher is someone who doesn't support TU? That makes no sense. That's like me calling you an Aegis basher just because you don't participate in their sims. Just because someone doesn't support something doesn't make them a basher. And please, don't call me a TU basher just because I have better things to do with my money (like throwing it off any of the six bridges that lead into London).

::sigh:: Okay, we are sad that new Trek is off the air, no matter our opinions on the latest version. However, that seems to be all we agree on for this topic and now, it's closed.
