I Feel Like Chicken Tonight

"I Feel Like Chicken Tonight"

Log entry 63: SD 10504.06

Seiben continued to pilot the Republic, monitoring the Hatfield's progress a few thousand metres behind it. They were appraching the big nebula the neared the region where the Republic met up with the derelict Hatfield. There, with most of the Republic crew transporting over to the Miranda Class Hatfield, they managed to ascertain the likely death of the Hatfield crew and also managed to power up the 100 year old ship.

From the Republic, Seiben initiated scans of the nebula, quickly coming with the fact that the nebula did contain a large unidentified mother ship. It made its presence known to both vessels, and hailed them. Seiben scanned the ship, looking for any weak points he can exploit on the ship, whilst targeting weapons on the vessel's engines and weapons array.

Though, not enthusiastic about dying in the line of duty, Seiben, like the Rear Admiral certainly was willing to die rather than to surrunder the Republic to these weird evil alien bird things, if it had to come to that. But, Seiben hoped that wouldn't be the case. He was still very young, and had a prosperous career ahead of him.

Having already lost in his cousin Hans on the Arcadia on an Away Mission last August, Seiben was well aware of the effects a death in the family had.. and most of his family are now just beginning to overcome the loss of the Arcadia Hans. The loss of the Republic one, would only prove even more devestating for his family.

But, like any Starfleet officer, Seiben was aware of the risks when he signed up for Starfleet Academy and would try to die with dignity and honour in his final hours. Seiben listened on as Blu chatted with the bird alien as well as a shape shifter standing next to the bird man.

Looking at the shape shifter, Seiben yet again, had a very bad feeling about the mission. Here for almost two years now, Seiben knew missions rarely ended peacefully for the valiant crew of the Republic. He started to wonder if he would join his cousin in the afterlife.

Taping buttons on his console, Seiben called up an evasive maneuver programme and placed weapons and shields on stand-by, asking Engineering to divert as much power as they could to both systems. If it was going to go down the way he thought it would, Seiben figured they'd need as much power as they can get.

Seiben once again found himself between a rock and a hard place. He wished they could just warp away or something, but reamined prepared to fight back. The bird things and the shape shifter remained both an intimidating sight. Seiben wondered how much a damaged Galaxy and a century old Mirnada would be a match for this big juggernaut of a ship.
