Question regarding Persona Logs format

Well, since I've been assigned to a starship, I've noticed personal log posting. My question is as follows:

What is standard procedure for posting a personal log? I've noticed some people post them as like they are telling a story, not talking to the computer recording a log. Which is favored? Is one way appreciated by GM's more than another?

Ok, that was more than one quetsion, but you get the idea.

Well, being your new Commanding Officer, let me just lay down the law... Oh, okay, never mind.

There is really no "right" or "wrong" way for writing logs.  You should post the log to the appropriate ship board here at stsf.net and send it to the crew's mailstring as well.  Yet, some GMs may not want it to go to the mailstring, so you should find that out from your GM team.  Most sims will have a "welcome packet" they send to new players which should tell you what is expected and accepted.  I would venture to guess that anything that furthers the player's involvement in the plot or offers some character development (without being... inappropriate, eh?) would be great.
