Especially holodeck characters from the future. Remember, the Holodeck was still new technology even in the first couple episodes of TNG.

The holodeck is from TNG on the Enterprise D, as I've heard it's set somewhere in Late TNG. Probably like season 5,6 or 7.

 

Now maybe Riker and Troi are only viewing the federation signing, not the whole ENT series.

According to TV Guide (which has a Star Trek theme), the episode will take place around the time of the TNG episode Pegasus (which was during the time Worf and Troi were dating). (and the actors said that their show will make Archer look like a decent captain for once) (there is a possiblity that TV Guide is wrong (which is usually is))

Actually, I would tend to agree that Archer himself has turned into a rather well developed character and commanding officer. I believe it's a shame that we won't get to see him develop further, because it's been interesting to see the "naive" individual he was turn into the "reality" striken person we've seen this last season.
