Your first experience with Star Trek? Specifically, when did u first see or read about Trek, and is this when u became a fan or not? Did a family member intro u to it?

I went to see Star Trek 5 in the theater back in 1989, and literally became a fan during the 2 hours of the movie. Sure, I had seen the previous films and original series eps at times, but Trek 5 was the one that just totally sucked me in.

It's been a great ride! <_< ....I've been a Trek fan for 16 years.... ;) I know thats not a "long" time compared to others, but, wow, 16 years!

Hey there,

My first exposure was when relatives took me to see Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. My father has never forgiven them. <_<

I've been a Trek fan for as long as I can remember. It started with the original series when I was about 3 or 4, my dad would sit with me and watch it. I was 5 when TOS was canceled in 69 and I was crushed. I've been a rabid Tekkie ever since. <_<

Zaphod,

"The cat and the fiddle."

I watched TNG with my parents since I was about sixish. They've been kicking themselves for it ever since.

Probably for me, watching TNG. Which was my first immersion into Star Trek. After Season Three, the story lines got much beter which made me interested in Star Trek. Then later on, the TOS Movie series.

My mom was always a fan of the original series and from the time I was old enough to hold my eyes open I watched re-runs and the movies from TOS. TNG really was the first Series I fell in love with but I watched ever Star Trek movie and relate more to the Original Crew simpley because they were there when I was growing up.... <_< and I Have always loved it and I doubt that will ever change.

The only things on TV growing up that hour were TOS reruns and My Little Pony/Smurfs. Pretty easy decision.

Lets see.... I started taking a carpool home from school in 1st grade (so like 89/90) my parents didn't get home till later. So I was left to my own devices, meaning one of the few things that was on was star trek. I would catch reruns of TOS and the few TNG that were playing. Then later on at night after dinner there was a new episode of TNG. I kinda fell in love with that cast cause I grew up watching them. So thats my story.

11 years or so.

I remember spining around in a circle in the living room with my big enterprise ship asking my dad if that was how fast Impulse speed was.

Well, I remember trying to get my parents to hurry me home from my Cub Scout Pack Meeting because my older brothers were watching a Star Trek episode from the beginning and I was missing part of it!!

Yes ::sigh:: I saw TOS when it was first run. I recall having the bejeepers scared out of me when Nancy Crater turned into the salt monster in that first-aired episode of TOS, "The Man Trap" (hey, I *WAS* young once, y'know?)

You know... back when TV's had stone knobs, and an actual rabbit for an antennae.

First time I was exposed to Star Trek was when my dad decided I was old enough to watch "The wrath of Khan" (hope that's the actual english title). I must have been nine at the time. Right after the movie we watched the TNG episode...uhmmm you know where Starfleet is threatened to be taken over by those bugs sticking out of your neck (sorry I only know the german title which is "Verschwörung" ). That was in '91 (and no it was not a re-run we have to wait THAT long for shows to be translated). I've been a fan ever since.

Geez, my parents are both Trek fans.

But my first memory other than Voyager, was a repeat of one of the parts of "The Best of Both Worlds". All I remember from my memory is the Doctor finding Picard's clothing in a drawer.

I was 3, I think. Then a couple years later, Voyager showed up, and since I grew up with that and DS9, I love them the most.

I never understood why the Borg kept Picard's uniform. I mean it's not like you can put a Borg in a Starfleet command uniform and expect him to blend. It wouldn't serve any purpose to keep it, and the Borg don't do anything without purpose.

Hmm, well I guess I fell in love with Trek back when UPN was doing TNG reruns. It might have been while DS9 was showing, maybe not. Anyways my uncle was doing this family reunion thing, and i was stuck between chatting with relatives who claimed to know me, or watching little kids upstairs. Stuck the kids in a bedroom to watch some Barney or whatever, and I settled in to watch TV. Lo and behold was Star Trek, and I fell in love with TNG after one episode. Luckily it was a marathon, and show I was entertained into the night by Picard & Co. I saw only one episode each of DS9 and VOY when they were running, but ive caught up with them on DVD.

Uhm...::showing age:: Used to watch the original run TOS series as a little girl with my mother. We'd all get through dinner, do our showers, and then sit down to watch tv. My mom loved science fiction and westrens, and with DeForest Kelly on the show, she really enjoyed having watched him in earlier westerns as well, it was a natural fit.

Mom's cool. We used to watch Twilight Zone, Outer Limits, Buck Rodgers, and the original BSG together as well.

Thanks Mom!

He was a big reason for me liking Trek also. I loved everything about Star Trek 5, but DeForest Kelley was a main reason for wanting to find out more about Trek. Mr. Kelley - very cool guy. ;)

It's fun when you and a parent can watch a sci fi show together. My Dad and I do that with ENT and the new BSG. Only time we're not fighting over the remote. <_<

Its nice to see the diversity of how people were introduced / found the show with the post responses.

My parents always watched the Star Trek series (my mom loved Scotty and was a big TOS Fan). Then when TNG came out they started watching it too. So I'd always stay up late (TNG was aired at 11pm EST) and watch it with them :P

At first it was just an excuse to stay up late, but then I got hooked. ;)

My parents and I always watched Voyager and DS9 togather as well as TNG re-runs. My sister never quite got it, (although she married a trekkie ::snicker:: ).

So I guess I've been watching it since I was...ummm a little kid. <_<

My first Trek memory is of the scene from "Who Watches the Watchers" where Picard lets himself get shot by an arrow. Pretty sure I'd watched it before then, but that's the first episode I remember.

I brainwashed my child early, playing episode soundtracks to her as an infant. She always liked the intro to TNG, it has that womb sound in the middle of it...and used to crawl towards the tv..lol.

It' worked to an extent, but she tends to be a bit more of a "warsie" than a "treker".

Can't have everything I guess.

I brainwashed my child early.

If I ever have kids I intend to do that, too.

We had a black and white TV when I was a kid and I didn't even know it was in color for the first year. We got a color TV and the TV world got a lot better. I was young when TOS aired, but I remember running home to get my home work done so we can watch it. My Dad had to wach Gunsmoke first then we got to watch TOS. Those were the day's. <_<

Oh, yes my kids and my grandkids watch all the time to. Yes I started them early to. ;)
