Feasting with Felines

Duty Log March 19, 2155

Lt.jg Dave Grey

-------------------------------------

The Caitian planet was certainly interesting. Although the environment was similar to some climates on Earth, the Caitians themselves were fascinating, as were their housing structures and their . . . use of human vocabulary.

They kept on mentioning three tests of some sort that the away team would need to undergo. The first trial would be some sort of combat, and Grey already hoped he wouldn’t need to be involved. His martial arts skills were getting better as he continued to practice, but he still hadn’t gotten past that natural awkwardness that inhibited him before. Grey would much prefer to look around the Caitian dwellings. Unfortunately, the Caitians were not very forthcoming with answers; they insisted that the Challenger crew feast before the “fondling” began.

Their food was good, he had to admit. It left a very deep aftertaste in his mouth, but otherwise it was quite refreshing from the ordinary food on board Challenger. Grey sat near the rest of the crew, looking around in wonder at the high-domed chamber in which the feast was being held. So far he was enjoying himself.
