True Lies

Juhdia worked on the Listening Post, hoping to catch up with the time frame the Away Team had. Which was not very long.

“Damn Juhdia, this is not good. Your first mission as mission commander and everyone is going to die. Can’t think about that now, have to finish the mission. That is first and foremost. Can’t think about the others dieing.”

Juhdia continued his work. “Have to finish. But what am I going to say when the Excalibur returns and only finds me alive?”

“You see Admiral Day, I killed the others and took their oxygen.”

“But that means I would have to break their necks once they’re dead. No, I just wouldn’t feel right desecrating their bodies.”

“You see Admiral Day, I am an Immortal. Like J’cin and Dr Zion. So that is why I am the only one left alive.”

“Nope, won’t work either.”

Juhdia continued his work, as of right now, this was the only thing he could do. Finish the mission.

“My oxygen is almost gone, even though I do not need as much as the others, I still use up oxygen working the long hours on the post.” Juhdia dropped his laser torch, “Air, I am running out, can’t go to the tent, almost out of air there.”

“Computer begin Mission Commander’s Log. Stardate… Whatever the Hell it is. Crew running on limited air supply. Boy I’d like to hear some Air Supply. I have given Dr Delgado my last full tank, I have led the crew to believe we have more oxygen than we actually have. I have done this in hopes they will not concern themselves with running out of air. They will probably figure this out themselves in time, but hopefully…. There goes that word again, hope. I have to give them something to hold onto.”

Juhdia’s hand began shaking, “Come on hold it together man. Finish the job.” He picked up the torch and continued working. “We are currently sixty-eight percent finished. Alone, I can be finished with it in two days. But by then, everyone will be dead.”

“But perchance to have tasted her sweet lips, ah, just the notion. I will have to talk to Elaine about that. Come on Juhdia.”

“I have sent an encrypted message to the Excalibur, informing them of our situation. That had two folds, one to let them know we will be dead soon, two, to see if the transmitter works.”

“If this is the last message I sent makes it through to the Excalibur… if the message. Cannot think straight, no air, my tank ran out as soon as I started working… Working…”

Juhdia fell to his knees

“Air…”
