It depends on the water temperature. Oceans are better if the water is actually warmer, but here in Northern California? Forget it! Too damn cold. Given the choice between a cold ocean and a cold lake I would choose the lake. But I would choose a warm ovean over a warm lake.

 

By the way, if you are ever in a warm swimming pool, don't swallow if you know what I mean.
