"Perils of technology"

Tovan allowed a short break for both him and Keb, working on removing the PC was of little difficulty, it just took more time than they thought. Tovan decided to take this time to look over the new hardware installed in the device. It was mostly the same device he, himself had worked on a length amount of time ago. Tovan still remembered the testing results he forwarded to medical, and he hasn't forgotten the perils of technology.

Ens Daniel Kroells was the one. Tovan reminisced. Yes, it was him. The unfortunate ensign was selected as a test object for the PC equipped probe. The lab had worked so well, it was decided that a human test subject was required to further the development of it. The ensign responded to the test negatively. He was stricken with a mental illness.

Tovan believed that the case was eventually resolved but not before Kroells had burnt a deathly image in his mind. Perils of technology. That seemed to be theme in his life, his brother lost his life working with technology, his colleague lost his mind on duty and countless other example could be stated easily.

But the development of the PC continued, but Tovan was concerned. How many more lives will be lost towards this small device? It wasn't much of a weapon but a tool, information gather tool, and stealth tool. But it already had cost so many lives, on Manticore or else where. So how many more will it be?

How many more will it take to satisfy the hunger of the machines?

Tovan stopped that line of thinking then continued to analyze the hardware, carefully and precisely. No mistakes shall be made, so no more lives shall be lost. Ensign Kroells was too much an example to be ignored.

The perils of Technology.
