Introduction- USS Agincourt

117 posts in this topic
I was thinking something along the lines of "Ah'-zhin-kor".

I have just looked it up in the dictionary. It can be pronounced "aj in kort", or the proper French pronunciation "Ah-zhan-koor", which I prefer. I guess we were both right.

and I thought trying to pronounce Aegis was annoying enough.

Or - USS Angi (An-gee) for short? :P

EDIT: lol, I know the ship is pronounced "agin", but everytime I go to say it, I end up wanting to say "Angi".

The historical background /name of the ship - good stuff. All of these historical parallels with the USS Agincourt, and the treaties, China comparison, well, its cool.

OK, My turn! My turn!

Since it appears the Klingons, Federation, and Romulans have a "cooperative cease-fire" might we see cameos from the Qob-Lakota and Talon sims/ships? You know, an image of what these ships might be like 20 or so years from now?

Van Roy,

There are certainly possibilities of cameo parts on the Agincourt sim in the future. At this point, however, no plans have been discussed.

Murray,

I think I prefer the English pronounciation with a silent "t" at the end. It's the best of both worlds (if something can be gained from French...). :P

Or you can do as I do in my notes, and call it either the "Agin" (English pronunciation) or the "Ag" (bearing no resemblance to either). ::chuckles::

I'm just going with what the dictionary said. Like I said, I prefer the French pronunciation. It just sounds better. Pretty much the only two differences between the two pronunciations are the silent "t" and "Ah" instead of the short "a" sound.

The Marines will be a separate division reporting directly to the XO, but will be expected to have a variety of specialties. Depending on those specialties, Marines may be placed 'on loan' to regular ship departments when the battalion is not needed for its primary purposes.

Curious question again to make this topic even longer then it is - please don't hurt me. LOL :P

If Marine Private Warp Smith is serving with the regular Sciences staff, and during an away mission leaves the team to go off on his/her own exploring without clearance from Sciences - would the CO of Sciences deal with this, CO of Marines / Ship XO Col. Harper, or CO of ship Captain Davies?

Length isn't a problem. :P

The answer is -- quite possibly all three, depending. In such a circumstance, the officer in charge of the Away Team would be the first person to deal with the situation. It would then be passed up the chain of command to be dealt with, how far up it goes depending on the resolution and the consequences of the Marine wandering off.

although cross-overs are fun, I'm starting to get lost. I can handle the Qob and Hood crossover (partly because I was able to find history on all of it), I somewhat can follow Grom, but once it gets to Semil, I'm comletely lost.

Colonel Harper,

Plus aren't we planning to shoot wandering Marines on sight?

Captain Davies,

Yes, but unfortunately we could only get permission to use tranquilizers. Apparently the Marine population is considered too low, and protected by the Federation Council. <_<
